Really. I’m the type who gets scared when I eat at a new place, because when it comes to barbecue in S Fla there isn’t much choice in my opinion. So I rolled into the Dixie Pig, and ordered a half chicken dinner. Are you kidding me how much did I pay for this crap. The portions were fit for a newborn. Half chicken. Yeah a baby chicken. Sorry bud its supposed to be barbecued not oven baked and drowned in Casey’s barbecue sauce. I got Mac and cheese and baked beans for my sides, and they were sad at best. I had to beg for a piece of cornbread seriously. How this guy could look me in the eye while taking my money is nothing short of sociopathic. I got hosed my friends. Even if this is your last meal on earth. Die hungry. This is typical for barbecue like I said earlier. Tom Jenkins is the only place with real barbecue down here trust me. Dixie Pig step your game up, and give me back my money.
LOVE this place! If you have a true appreciation for Eastern Carolina bbq, they do a good version of it. And as far as this other review, Eastern Carolina bbq is tender and MOIST, not soggy. And yes, we use vinegar-based sauce! It goes on a hamburger bun, and boy do they have a whopper of a bun here; LOVE those things too! Breakfast is a treat also! Yummy bacon! Dont expect to be wined and dined here; its all about the food, not the embiance!
A quick fix for pork!. Being a reader of The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, we had to eat here for the novelty. The meats were all cooked well and naked. The offer a variety of very yummy sauces. The macncheese was edible. It was not coming off as over the top homemade multi faceted Mac n cheese that it could be. But maybe it will get there someday. My coleslaw was edible, and the general textures of all parts of the whole meal worked well together. The service was fast, the service was kind and caring. The prices were fair. I would bring other people to eat here. It’s a solid go. You will leave with a full belly. The seating area is charming with funny pigs all about on the walls. If I couldn’t decide where to eat out one morning or lunch, I would chose to go here. It’s food. It’s done well. Enjoy the novalty, and pray you don’t see any taheen or low men.

Boring. I’ve been to some excellent Barbecue joints. Unfortunately, Dixie Pig is not one of them. I had a Pork Sandwich which reminded me of a BBQ sandwich from the supermarket. Bland and the sauce did not add any additional flavor.
Not for me. Mushy pork and nasty sauce apparently appeal to some, but there were no flavors here that appealed to my palate. I found the pork wholly unappealing with or without the sauce. insidefortlauderdale.com
