Of all the sushi in the Ocala area, none quite compare to the quality of Aki; the textures and flavors of the fish just exude freshness and proper preparation. The atmosphere isn’t the most elegant of the area, but it is quite apropos for the authentic style of the cuisine. From the amount of rice to the cuts of fish, Aki Sushi gets the important details right. If you are looking for good sushi in Ocala, this is the place to be.
I have almost always enjoyed the food at Aki, but the last few visits I felt the service was really lacking to the point of feeling ignored. HOWEVER, I was incredibly impressed with our last visit. I felt every single employee sincerely cared about giving us a wonderful experience. I’m not sure if there has been a change of hands in ownership or management but I really appreciate the new enthusiasm. I feel this is the most authentic Sushi restaurant in Ocala.
Amazing… Must try!. The food was incredibly fresh and the prices matched the portions. The resturant was in the corner of the plaza and had a quiet. close atmosphere. Their service was excellent- ask for Tammy. We will come back again. Btw their tempura cheesecake was a wonderful way to end my birthday celebration- amazing!!
Aki has updates since the previous owners in 2010. I read the reviews and noticed some of the reviews that were older.. My wife and I eat here 3 times a week. We are both online teachers and eat out to get out of the house. We have eaten at almost every Ocala restaurant and find ourselves back at Aki the most. I lived in Okinawa while my dad was in the military. This food is the food I found while in Okinawa. The name may say Aki Sushi, but it should be Awesome Variety Japanese food, My wife loves sushi and this is her favorite place after 20 years in Ocala. I love the Shrimp Tempura Bento, Shrimp Hibachi and the Aged Tofu (I was not a tofu person before Aki). Since the 2010 reviews Aki added additional tables and 2 TV’s and changed the color palate, they In the last year they have added tables and booth seating. There take out business has grown and includes online orders at http://www.akisushiocala.com. Aki Sushi is a wonderful family owned restaurant. Q makes the sushi, Jessie, his wife, does most of the serving. His mom and dad and her father work hard in the kitchen. Why do we love this place? This is a great family and the food is the best quality for the money you will find around Ocala. Try it once and you will be hooked. Sincerely,Scott and Di
This place isn’t horrible but I definitely won’t go back. Tasted like cafeteria sushi.
Went this past Thursday, 6 pm, sat at sushi bar. Language barrier with sushi chef forced us to nod, point smile widely. All good however 2 rolls for $20, love that . I hear their bento boxes are good deal, lots of food.Tucked into a strip mall with Publix anchor, w Aki is worth a try. It is small and not pretentious like other sushi spots in town.
Super friendly service. Server was great and recommended things on the menu and also other restaurants to try while we were in town. The sushi was great as well as the hibachi. Great restaurant!
