A 2 on a scale of 4. Things to like, and things not to like. Nice full bar, good live music, not a bad decor, if dated; but, the food is mediocre and so is the service. It’s the type of restaurant that you try again some time to see if it has improved. That’s probably not the way to run a restaurant. The menu is a bit strange: lots of southern dishes, but nothing as an alternative. We are not all from the south; in fact, most of the people who eat out regularly in Ocala are from the north and Midwest. Even the concept of a breaded Southern Fried Filet Mignon boggles the mind. Not awful; not good. Just somewhere in-between. We’ll keep looking.
Looks like a bad carryover of ’70s decor. Food was good, service was great, but it is too pricey for the value. Had entertainment but was pretty empty for Friday night dinner.
Great Find!. An acquaintace recommended this restaurant to me and on her advice, six of us travelled from The Villages to keep a 7 p.m. reservation. Upon our arrival, our table had been set up and we were promptly seated. Our waitress, Jeannie, stopped by to let us know that she would be right with us, and she was. Our drink orders were taken and delivered while we studied the comprehensive menu. Warm, garlic-y rolls were delivered to the table as well. Two of us ordered the meatloaf; two ordered the bar-b-qued shrimp and grits; one ordered the chicken fried filet mignion; and I ordered the liver and onions with bacon. Each order came with a wide choice of two sides. The portions were generous and each dish was excellently executed. Our waitress was attentive and her timing was impeccable. We ordered one dessert and shared a lushious bread pudding with a burnt sugar topping that was wonderful. We all agreed that this is one of the best dining experiences we experienced since moving to FL. We will be back!
Horrid food. Heard this was a good place to eat so decided to try it for late lunch.ordered philly cheese steak with fries. Worst ever eaten. dry overcooked sandwich and cold old fries. Sent it back , got an apology, and it was removed from bill. Signature bread pudding was as bad as it can get. Didn’t bother complaining about it, paid the overpriced bill and will never return.Waitress was very good.
Super!. Prompt seating, good food, good service, looking forward to a return trip.
We’ve tried this place 4 times now. Mediocre food each time (instant mashed potatoes, under-salted food, frozen chicken for the Marsala, only the Mac and cheese is decent). Hostess is horrible each time, rude and unhelpful when we asked to be moved away from a loud drunken party. Best of luck getting refills. Only the management is accommodating but if your entire staff sucks, it must be the culture, which management is to blame for. All that to say we raised our glasses to tonight being our last time we go here.
I have NEVER had a bad meal here. If you like real homemade food this is the place to eat!
