Service. My husband and i sat at the bar for an hour and was never disappointed. John who was the bartender was so professional and polite and made great drinks made our hour wait worth it all.Thanks again John have a Happy New Year
Love it. I have read many of these reviews and recenlty had a friend tell me that it was a bad experience at yamato. We have been there several times and we are happy every time! We always go for lunch and it is always on a Saturday. Prices for lunch are very reasonable. We have had some chefs that are just OK, but 2 that have been great. Service has been great a few times, and not so good other times. The only other Japanese restaurant we have tried is Grace on Maricamp, and we actually left there and went to Yamato.
Yamato looked after 16 of our group of 17 with superb food and service . Our one unhappy friend got royally screwed on the sushi with wrong food and no help from mgr re adjusting bill etc – looked like the Waite screwed up and it got worse as time went on ….our chef was ok but not as personable as we have experienced at other Japanese restaurants . Price and food quality were excellent . Will definitely return .
Just terrible. Had good experiences at the Yamato in Wesley Chapel (at Wiregrass) so decided to try the Yamato in town. Granted, it was a Saturday night so we expected it to be busy, and it was. We were pretty hungry so we thought we would get to eat faster if we did take out instead of waiting around for a table (there were a bunch of big parties ahead of us). The boyfriend picked sashimi, and I chose the teppanyaki. For some reason the takeout teppan didn’t come with noodles so they charged me extra for that. We waited for the takeout at the bar, and what we observed was horrendous — the bartenders were watering down the drinks. Luckily the boyfriend and I were passing the time with bottled beers. After a half hour, they brought out the boyfriend’s sashimi, and it sat on the counter for an hour while we were waiting for my teppan. We could see that they were busy, but an hour and a half for 2 takeout dinners? That is crazy. At least, the boyfriend enjoyed his sashimi when we got home, but my food was overcooked and dry, and the portion was not good for the price. I wrote a letter to the manager describing our bad experience and the dishonest bar practices and never got a reply back. Will not be returning to Yamato unless some serious changes are made.
My favorite place to eat! Service is sometimes slow but the food tops the cake..we have tried every japanese steakhouse in ocala and tampa and Yamatos out does them all!
The best in ocala area/great taste great price. Me and my wife eat there once a week my little girls love it my wife and I love it .customer service is not the best but ive been to worse places.. we tried all the japanes steak houses all over town but keep coming back here because the food is great ,chefs are great, some more entertaining than others but bottom line is food taste, not being clowned around or get food thrown @ you like other places . i recommend this place because is clean, is high class , and is cheap most other places charge you extra for fried rice and noodles yamato includes all that @ no extra charge ..plus the soup is great ..i give it four stars out of five
Disappointing. Sorry to say this was a very disappointing experience. Service terrible. Servings were small, and not well prepared. Won’t go there again.
