  In cooking there needs to be a fine balance between flavors, textures, etc… I think Ellie Lou’s just barely misses this mark. There were some good flavors in what I ate but some things just didn’t come together properly. The fried green tomato BLT. There are some really good flavors there but a few mistakes on execution. In this type of sandwich you have to consider the fact that it’s going to be grease on grease on grease. With this being the case, you can’t put it on such thin flimsy bread. A sandwich this greasy needs a thicker bread to carry it. The cheddar grits are also another example of poor balance. They have so much cheese that you can barely tell there are grits in there. They taste more like a cheese dip than grits. I do have to say that the fries are actually very good. I can get good fries at lots of other places though. I will go back to try some other items at some point. Don’t want to judge an entire place off of one bad meal. As of now though, I’m not impressed.

  Great food – good wine – good prices. At a recommendation of a friend we went there for lunch today. The food was really good and the prices are reasonable. I was really impressed by the excellent wine selection at a good price too! If you like blue cheese try the blue cheese cole slaw. The smoked turkey was excellent too! Will definitely dine there again.Good to go for a decent dinner – decor is really nice – ok for small children. Staff & service was great!

  Perfect BBQ! I heard about four rivers and tried that months ago and Ellie Lou’s is 50 times better. First tried Ellie Lou’s at a food truck event and took my family there soon after. The KC Wet sandwich is just perfect – from the smoke, flavor, and tenderness of the meat to the fried onion on top to the semi sweet but flavorful kc BBQ sauce. You also get other BBQ sauces on the table (should you choose to dine in). The Memphis sauce is another perfect BBQ sauce.The only side I’ve tried so far is the cheese grits. I had honestly never had grits before. If this is what all grits taste like, I’m a big fan.Additionally, the staff and service is as good as it gets. Really hope this place stays around for a long time and never changes a thing. This is THE place to go when craving BBQ.
