Terrible!!! High top tables are tiny, even for 1 person. Appetizer was brought out after the meal which created a huge disaster. Had to ask for service after food was brought out. High priced drink with very little alcohol. Music was good though. Will not return.

Had grouper sandwich and it was really bad. The breading was not cooked all the way, made it just gross. Now I know why it’s never crowded.

Went to AJ’s Oyster Shanty for dinner tonight. Great selection of oysters from fried and buffalo, to Italiano and crab stuffed. They have live music. I loved the fried mozzarella! It’s not a plain frozen mozz stick. It’s huge hand breaded balls with Parmesan and fresh marinara. My dad got the fried crab claws and loved them. The place was a little loud so if you don’t like that then you should ask to eat inside. I wish we would’ve dined inside because the atmosphere is lovely. There were 6 adults and everyone loved their food! We will be back!

I can’t say I really cared for this place. It was only about 10 minutes from our hotel but we drove past a dozen places with the same tired menu to get there. It might be convenient for people staying on the island but I’d drive a little further for something more exciting. The bartenders spent too much time talking to each other and not enough time making sure our drinks weren’t empty. The live music sounded exactly like all other live music at places like this. We’ve been pretty disappointed so far in the quality of food and freshness of seafood at most of the places around here.

Our group was hoping to have dinner and a few drinks to unwind since we were staying across the street. Drink options are very limited here. Mostly party girl type stuff that is way too sweet. I don’t really eat raw oysters, but my group said they were fine. I did notice they cost several dollars more here than other places we went. I also feel like I paid a lot more than I should have for my shrimp as compared to all the other places we went. There is a bar behind this place with a much better drink selection, so have no fear if you’re staying on the island and need drink choices within walking distance.

I enjoy the food at both AJ’s locations as well as the atmosphere. Tyrone said in his reviews of both AJ’s locations that they’re just tourist traps. AJ’s absolutely aims to attract tourists to both locations, but also has a LARGE local crowd who are loyal to the business. There are quite a few places around that are corporate chains that I would never patronize and quite frankly don’t know anyone who would. AJ’s isn’t one of those places. Locally owned and operated, quality food, and fun times. Some reviewers let their personal feelings toward a business owner or employees speak for them instead of actual experience. Especially ones who post reviews with fake names within the first hour of a business opening its doors. 😉

Really bad service. The menu is identical to any other tourist trap in the area. Generic beer list. Generic food list. Lots of blue hairs acting like they’re celebrating their 21st birthday. It’s the old Fudpucker’s building, so maybe the location is cursed.
