Under Weight. Food isn’t great AND bought what I thought to be a pound of meats. !/2 pound each of pork and beef. Weighed it before dinner on my electronic scale and with the containers both weighed , together 11 1/2 ounces. WHAT ???? She used an old rickety scale to weigh it out. CHEATS !!!!! Waste of time and money. The place needs an overhaul, inside and out.
Best barbacue in Florida. I love this place. Their barbecue pork, sausage and ribs are amazing. The only problem is it is hard to find for the first time. I lived less than 3 miles away and only found about it 5 years ago because I drove by their barbacue pit on st petersburg drive with my window open. It is a few blocks behind the new hotels in oldsmar. I highly recommend.
Not everything is good about this place!!!!. I absolutely LOVE the bbq meats here, but other than that they don’t know how to run a business. The side dishes are terrible!! The greens are nasty and bittter and the salads aren’t even as good as what you get in a grocery store and more expensive. Because I like their meats I have referred many friends to them HOWEVER never will again!! On a Tuesday lunch I collected money after bragging on them and went to pick up lunch and they were closed…Again on a weekend I went to pick up food for visiting guests and they were closed early without even a sign on the damn door….They could use some business advice because they obviously can’t sell anything if they aren’t open!!!!!!!!
There pulled pork sandwiches are ok not worth paying 6 dollars for a 3 inch bun. There sauces are bland well their hot sauce certainly is bland. The place has been opened for 20 years and can’t upgrade from cooler to store their drinks in, not even with ice! They seem like cheap as place for how expensive their food is. Dont like and not worth paying 16 dollars for 2 pork sandwiches.
Not worth the money!. We got there at about 6:15pm (they close at 7pm). All of the meat was sitting wrapped in foil. My son enjoyed the chopped pork sandwich. My chopped beef dinner w/ 2 sides was so dry and tough that it was inedible and i gave it to our dogs. The collard greens were a bit undercookedbut had good flavor and the potato salad was average. The slab of ribs was average, more tough meat than tender. Seems that they smoke the meat in the morning and it sits all day untill it is ordered. All of the meat seemed dry and tough. Our bill was $43 plus tip for 2 pork sandwiches, 1 chopped beef dinner, 1 slab of pork ribs and 1pint of potato salad to go. And they don’t honor the restaurant.com certificates either! Better food and better value can be had at your local Sonny’s.
Hole in the wall, and good BBQ. The 2 seem to always go together. I got a pork sandwich, and is was succulent, juicy, and tender. I had the hot bbq sauce, and it has a nice kick to it, but a little bit too much vinegar for me (although not too overbearing.) The meat was so good, I could have eaten it without sauce and the smoke ring was a nice pink. The only other bbq pork that I ever eaten that tastes bette sans sauce is Tom Jenkins BBQ in Ft Lauderdale.I also got baked beans. Nothing too special, but the green pepper added some nice flavor.Off the beaten path for most, but worth a stop if your in the neighborhood.
