Good food every time. Small tables the staff is young and uncaring they sat me where the sun was in my face and the restaurant was empty. When I asked to move they acted like it was a big deal. We order carry out if we want sushi.
Cutting Corners. I have been going to this place since it’s first opening. I have noticed that the past few times that I have gone, the portions have gotten smaller and smaller. The sushi is half the size! Last night, I ordered a bowl of rice for $2.00 and was done in three bites. I complained to the waitress and she said that they started to serve smaller portions because people were not finishing their rice. So, they now give a half of scoop of rice and you are paying the same price. My order was incorrect and it took an hour for my food. They gave me the impression that they don’t care for my business. I am now in search of a new Japanese restaurant that I can eat in every week.
Great sushi, not so great dinner. We stopped in for sushi at lunch, and it was so great we returned for dinner a week later. We got the Korean short ribs, which were thin and tough, and the shrimp and scallop tempura platter. There were two scallops and two shrimp, which I think was one butterflied shrimp cut in half, plus some tempura vegetables. Maybe that would be OK if it was just billed as a tempura platter, but it was called shrimp and scallops. The tempura was also heavy and everything seemed overcooked. Both dishes also included stir-fry veggies over rice, and that was very good. All negativity aside, we mainly go to sushi places for sushi only, and Hot Tuna has impressed us on that, so don’t let this review stop you from trying it.
Found a new spot that has become a fixture in our local dining spot scene. They have two different happy hours, an early one for sushi and then another after 8 PM for apps and beers. Apps are varied enough too for some variety. Tempura is really good as is the Tuna Tataki and Wings. The High Five is your basic nigiri selection. Atomic Aoili conch nigiri is good if you enjoy some heat BEFORE you even use wasabi. Can’t beat $3 Japanese brews. $2 Blue Moon too!Service has been pretty tight as well. Nice dim lit space too adds to the feel. See y’all soon!
Great place!!. So my friend and I decided to try this new place in Oldsmar. The decor is very modern and clean. The service was excellent and friendly. I had the stir fry udon with beef which was excellent. My friend had the sushi which was good as well. The half off appetizers was such a great deal. Overall I really enjoyed the experience. Keep it up Hot Tuna!!!
EXCELLENT!
Excellent sushi joint. I have been here multiple times and always get excellent service and tasty food. I am very picky about my sushi and hot tuna has never disappointed. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
