2017/04/05Three of us were wandering around Church Street, looking for a place to have dinner. We passed on a couple of places, and then one of my colleagues spotted that Ferg’s Depot had a duck special, which caught his interest. The restaurant looks like it used to be the railroad station. It has a couple of inside sections, a covered area, and a couple of outdoor seating areas. We chose the outside area. It took a few minutes before someone came. Apparently she was working at the bar, and was helping out at the tables, because they were a bit short-staffed. We all placed our orders, and then had to wait for a while. One of my colleagues had ordered a Caesar Salad with his meal. When it showed up, there were a couple of leaves that were not just a bit brown, but had some rot. He sent that back. When the replacement showed up, it some brown, clumpy stuff on one of the lettuce leaves. He sent that back, and asked that it not be replaced. Shortly after that, a manager arrived, profusely apologized, and comped my colleague’s meal. The right thing to do, of course, but it shouldn’t have gotten that far. Someone in the kitchen wasn’t paying enough attention. I had ordered the Sugar Cane Shrimp. The shrimp were okay, but the side of broccoli was overdone; steamed to the point that it was all soft. Not every meal can be a good meal.
