2017/03/28Someone on the client team recommended The Stubborn Mule, and it was a very good suggestion. We were inside the office the whole day, so my colleague and I decided to have dinner on the patio. We started out with the Edamame (roasted garlic, toasted almonds, parmesan cheese). What a tasty way to start a meal. Tender edamame, a bit of crunch from the almonds. While each of the ingredients has their own distinct flavor, they combined nicely in this dish. The entrees came with a choice of salad, and I had the House Salad with balsamic. I normally don’t comment much on salads, but the croutons were really good. Not sure what bread they used, but they had a fairly uniform, pleasant crispiness all the way through. Wondering if they had deep fried them. For my main course I had the Elly May, which is essentially shrimp and grits. Smoked gouda grits, Cape Canaveral shrimp, roasted winter squash, cherry tomatoes, scallion oil. For me one of the more notable things about the dish is that the shrimp tails were removed. One of my pet peeves is tail-on shrimp that are mixed in with the rest of the dish. Thank you. The grits were creamy and smooth, the shrimp were plump and tender, and the rest of the ingredients played well together. A very satisfying dish. Our server was pleasant and attentive, rounding out the whole dining experience.
