This place has AMAZING oysters!! Some of the freshest I’ve ever had (I normally don’t eat oysters because most places I’ve tried don’t have ‘fresh’ oysters). I also tried the seafood platter, which was not as good as the oysters. Thier clam strips were amazing though!!! Make sure you try the oysters by dipping it in butter, adding it to a cracker, drizzle some cocktail sauce and horse radish!!! Best cocktail sauce I’ve ever had 🙂 I can’t wait to go again!
If you love oysters you have to go! It’s the definition of a dive. Go sit at the trough bar, they shuck the oyster right on the counter and then you just throw them over the side into the trough. Order them by the bucket and drink a cold beer.
The Way It is Suppose To Be. Waterproof environment (concrete raw bar counter), fresh oysters, and fast shuckers standing in front of you keeping the reason you are there coming until you say stop. That is what it is all about. My son and I come here whenever we both can be in town at the same time and have 2 or 3 buckets of oysters and a pop (or 2). Makes the trip from Ft. Myers, for him, and where ever the motorhome stops for us, a worth while trip. Do yourself a favor and put this place in your GPS. Eric
Oysters and Only Oysters. For those of you who went to Lee and Ricks for anything other than Oysters you are missing the point. This is the best place in central Florida (and maybe in all of Florida) for raw oysters. You get them by the bucket and someone shucks them at the bar in front of you. Call ahead – If they run out of oysters or didn’t get a delivery, don’t bother coming. The oysters are huge and they give you cocktail sauce, lemon, hot sauce and horse radish to adorn the oysters. A pitcher of beer and maybe a side of steamed clams (they are good too) and you have yourself a feast.
Price is ridiculous for food. Me and my wife went there for dinner on 07/17/2014 and I ordered the Fried Platter. The price was $19.95. I was expecting nicely battered quality seafood. Everything was frozen and the fish was only about a 3oz piece of Cod. They had clams, crabcake and shrimp. Everything was not fresh it was frozen. I could have went to long john silvers or captain d’s and got the same items for half of the price. My wife received some corn that was cold also. Terrible quality of food for that price. I don’t mind paying that price if it is fresh food battered and fried.
The food was okay. I went with my sister and ordered the fried seafood platter. It was literally a Gordon fish fillet, a store bought crab cake, a handful of clam strips, 4 shrimp fried in old grease, and a box full fries. I was very disappointed and when I spoke to management, she said oh yeah, it comes that way it says in the menu. When I mention that the menu also says that it’s captains portions which implies that the portions are larger, she just said yea. . .
This was a really great oyster bar! I ordered raw and medium buckets pd oysters, and they were absolutely delicious. Their crab legs were great as well! Our waitress was friendly and great in conversation. When I come down again, I will definitely go back here.
