After being disappointed at C&W a while back I decided to give it another try. However, I was courious as to why their phone number no longer worked. After visiting again the answer became clear. I can only assume they disconnected the phone so as to not have to listen to complaints about the BBQ. I tried the ribs again and they were without a doubt the worst I’ve ever had. Chewy, fatty and not smoked! They had been boiled an then placed over the fire. The greens and Mac and cheese were very good. Skip the ribs. Go for the sides. Or better yet, skip C&W all together!25 Jun, 2011This was a great BBq joint before the reopened. Now it’s not good at all. Ribs are chewy with no hint of smoking. Something’s wrong now. They went from the best to the worst.
This is a must for any serious foodie. The experiance is worth the trip alone. As we drove up we saw one of the many famous Oviedo chickens, and knew this was the place. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the Rib dinner. The pulled pork, was a bit of a let down kinda blah, no flavor. The portion size was monstrous. The Rid dinner was a better choice. I could taste the smoke, very tender fall off the bone good. These are not traditional trimmed ribs. You get the whole rib. Again, a lot of food. The Sweet Potato pie was great, we bought the whole pie.We will be back, the food was above average, but for BBQ in Oviedo its the best. Sorry, Sonnys.
Awesome!. I stopped by to try it out and I had the pulled pork and it was super! I stopped by the other day and to my surprise they had home made sweet potato pie, it was awesome! If you are in the area stop on by and getcha some!
I pass by this place everyday on my way home and I finally tried it. It exceeded expectations. The pulled pork is very flavorful, the beans taste homemade and the potato salad is quite good as well.
Great Chicken. Never had the pork, but the chicken was great. Sides weren’t bad, either.
C&W BBQ. The restaurant claims to have the best BBQ in Seminole, county which isn’t completely true, as having eaten there many times, its arguably the best BBQ in Florida….I think there are three menu items, (pulled pork’s the way to go) and then you can order a couple sides (beans, mac, etc…) It’s well priced, but bring cash b/c she doesn’t take credit cards…. nd i’d bring a drink too b/c she only sells cans
More Smoke, Less Grease. Having grown up and spent all of my formative years in east Tennessee, I would like to think that I have an idea of what good southern BBQ is. For the most part, it’s pork. It is pork that has been smoked low and slow, either as whole hog (though that has become more and more rare these days) or it is parts (most likely ribs and shoulders). It is moist, but not overly greasy. There is a well-defined smoke flavor, usually hickory, but also apple, pecan, oak, and cherry are acceptable substitutes. After 14 months of non-operation, it was good to see the folks at C&W open again. Especially since I had not gotten to try their pork before they closed. Assuming all the good reviews had some merit, I tried it. In a word…..terrible. Greasy, fatty and with a sauce that tasted like a mixture of ketchup, mustard, and mayo. There was no evidence of any sort that the meat had seen anything but an oven or crock pot, and it had been sitting in grease. It was awful. I didn’t even finish. It was a huge disappointment, and this is coming from someone who would love to see a good, non-chain BBQ place in Oviedo.
