This is a place for nostalgia, If you are resurrecting memories of a time long ago or just want to feel what it’s like to be in 1963 again, then just walk through the door and step back in time for a moment. This is where my Grandfather Sydney Webb used to eat on his way back to Crestview, FL. It is also one of the settings in a chapter from my new book.
Classic southern cooking. I have eaten here a number of times, and i always have the same issue. The food is good, but it is old time southern country cooking. Lots of salt and fat in every bite. I keep wondering how much my life is being cut short by the contents of the daily lunch special. But I just cann’t help myself. So if you find me in the parking lot with a stroke or heart attack, let my wife know I tempted fate one too many times.
My husband and I enjoy eating here. The best vegetable soup. Southern cooking like this is hard to find. Words of wisdom: don’t go in a hurry and bring cash. They don’t accept debit or credit cards.
Really Enjoyable. Very decent homemade burger, not at the top of my list, but comparable to Jerry’s Drive In. You don’t find these kind of old places every day, and this one was full of enthusiastic customers. Southern fare is the big draw. The bacon on the burger was so good that this will have be a new breakfast stop when in need of some atmosphere. The outside was so well landscaped and cared for that I can’t imagine why anyone would hate on this little diner.
Time to close. Its ok but to crowded with empty tables and I was not impressed with the food. Ordered an omelet and to be honest I make much better ones at home. portions not equal to the prices either.
