Bad, bad, bad experience. I would suggest avoiding this place. We were offered the chance to wait 20-25 minutes, or be seated immediately outside. We opted to sit outside, along with 3 other tables that were already seated out on the patio. We waited for 30 minutes and saw no servers come out to help anyone; another patron next to us went in to complain, and we did manage to get some water. But, after only 1 table got appetizers after another 30 minutes, we opted to leave. The manager was even our server, but never let us know what was going on or ask if we wanted drinks. If the manager can’t see what’s going on, we don’t have much hope for anything else going right at Sushi Yama.
Disappointing sushi. I used to eat at Sushi Yama a few years ago, mainly because it’s open late. I never was that crazy about it, but I liked the atmosphere. They have since renovated it, and it’s a very good looking restaurant. Unfortunately, I still am not that wild about the sushi. I only ordered a few things tonight. The salmon sushi was very good and fresh, although a bit pricey- $4.50 for two pieces. I didn’t really like the yellowtail that much, and it was $5 for two pieces. But the biggest disappointment was the spicy tuna roll. It was 8 pieces with rice outside, and the spicy sauce was not really spicy and not very pleasant tasting. At that point, I had already spent $17 and I didn’t want to throw good money after bad, so I got the check and left. It’s a very nice atmosphere, and that made it all the more disappointing for me that the food was not that great. I probably won’t go back.
Wow. Excellent.
My Favorite Restaurant. This is by far the best sushi restaurant I know. The food is always consistent and delicious. Not to mention the service is usually very good. Another wonderful thing about Sushi Yama is that their menu has major variety with hundreds of sushi rolls to choose from and a large number of entrees including noodle dishes, curries, and stir fry. The atmosphere has always been very welcoming, but since their renovation in 2010, Sushi Yama has attracted a much younger crowd and the overall dining experience is way more upbeat 🙂 I recommend this place to everyone I know. Trust me on this one. I have been a frequent customer for over ten years!!!!
The BEST Restaurant. Period.. Consistently the BEST sushi for miles and miles around. I purposely moved closer to this restaurant.Just GO THERE. You’ll see. Beautiful inside and surrounding.Japanese/Thai menu, lots of not raw food to enjoy as well.
Horrible Chicken Teriyaki. Tasted/looked like boiled chicken with teriyaki sauce dumped on top. Came with 2 small strips of carrot and 3 pieces of broccoli. Will not visit this restaurant again.
I used to eat here at least once a week, but last 2 times have been disappointing. Last week my server came to table with so much food in her mouth she couldn’t talk! Gross! The rolls have been falling apart and the fish was very mushy and watery, not sure if they are handling product the same.
