HORRIBLE. My three daughters and I decided to have dinner at Casa Ludovico restaurant and we were very much looking forward to it. We arrived before 5:00 because I understand that sometimes there’s a lengthy wait. We got seated within five minutes and there was no line of people waiting. The restaurant is actually a refurbished house and the dining area is small but charming. Considering we are from New England, CT in fact, it felt very much like many of the quaint Italian restaurants we frequently visited in New Haven. Thats where the similarities ended. This dining experience was a huge disappointment. The food was awful and it was extremely overpriced!!! My Chicken Marsala tasted like nothing, literally nothing, not even salt. There was absolutely no presentation on the plates. The chicken medallions were tough and the pasta sauce was bitter. My daughters had Chicken Parmesan. The crust on the chicken was overcooked. The waiters stood at the back of the restaurant and stared at us while we ate. So much so, that when he gave me my check he also told me which of my daughters resembles me and how much they do or do not. My daughters are 18, 19 and 24 and very attractive. It was uncomfortable. This is the South; they need to have sweet tea and lemonade on the menu, not just carbonated beverages. For all of the reviews that are pro this restaurant, it is not the case. I am Italian and a very good cook. This cooking in no way resembles true northern Italian cooking. When you think Casa Ludovica, think extremely overpriced and terrible food!!!

Just ok. This is a neighborhood restaurant for me. I try it at least once a year to see if the food has improved and I continue to be disappointed. I have not had one meal that I thought was better than average. The last meal I had there, a featured grouper dish, I could not eat. The fish was undercooked and it was topped with a bland marinara sauce. Salads are served with oil and balsamic vinegar on the side. The balsamic vinegar is not a very good quality. It tastes like white vinegar with brown food coloring. The staff is charming and the atmosphere is cozy.

Back in Napoli. My wife and I lived in Naples Italy for almost 4 years and the food and service we received for dinner at Casa Ludovico was outstanding. We both thought we were at one of our favorite resturants in Bella Napoli. The food was true Italian. Our table was ready for our 7 pm reservation and the atmosphere was great. I mentioned to the waiter that one of my favorite Pasta’s was Pene al arribiata and the chef prepared me some for my dinner. My wife and I will be making this a regular place for dinner when we are in Palm Harbor.

Black Spaghetti!! New To Us.. Never heard of black spaghetti … but saw and tried it for the first time and it wasn’t too bad. Like the difference between white or brown rice compared to black rice. This is not THE BEST Italian restaurant in the bay area, but it is very good and worth repeat business, a go back to. There are quite a number of entrees that you find at other Italian restaurants that they have here and the fun is to try them at new places.

Disappointed. The food itself was excellent. The overall experience was horrible. We had to squeeze between our table and another to sit down. The place was very loud and noisy. A busboy was clearing a table near us and set dirty, half-eaten dishes on our table while he picked up more plates! We asked to order an appetizer while we looked over the menu and were told that because it was getting busy, the kitchen needed our entire order at one time! People at the table next to us were commenting on how loud it was. They even joked with us when we left about getting our hearing back. I am very disappointed because as I mentioned, the food was very good. There definitely needs to be some attention to the service and if the kitchen won’t accept an appetizer order before the meal…that’s a problem.

Great food. We’ve been going here since it opened. Never had a disappointing meal. Try the seafood with black spaghetti; once you’ve had it you won’t want to try anything else. For those of you that wvrote poor reviews -don’t go back it will just make it easier to get a table!
