Not the same. Have been here several times, it was called El Molcahetes and loved it. Food is not the same now. I don’t even think the new owners are Mexican! Just found out that the previous owners have reopened down the road and am so happy! But when I asked El sombrero staff they said it was the same owners, only name change. REALLY? If you want good food, drive down the road to El Molcahetes ! Don’t let these people fool you.

Cheap and tastes like it. Cheap prices, slooooow service (she was friendly) and weak margaritas. Oh, the food? Ok, here goes…Tamale was dry.Chips were overlooked.Salsa was very mild but decent flavor.Enchilada had a very strange aftertaste.Tortillas were chewy, thick and doughy.Beef fajita meat had flavor but again, very dry.Flaunt as need a glass of water to actually get them down.Seeing a trend here? The food taste like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The place was not crowded and now I know why….

Awesome Mexican Food! Very authentic and well rounded menu. A couple minor changes since their rebranding but all for the better. This place continues to be my favorite place for Mexican Food in all of Manatee County.

Has changed its named from El Molcajetes to El Sombrero. Still tasty, excellent fresh salsa with lots of cilantro.
