Sunshine and Bonnie. My friend, Bonnie, and I have eaten at Big Mama’s many times. We really love their food! The staff is ALWAYS friendly. We always get greeted with a smile. Our most favorite day is Wednesday. They have the best Chicken and Dumplings. We also enjoy Fridays Fish and Shrimp. We live in Port St. Joe and look forward to our weekly grocery shopping trips. Because we know we’re gonna eat at Big Mama’s. They get your food to you quickly.
Lisa. As teachers, we rarely usually have about 20 minutes to warm something up and we may or may not be able to sit with friends as we are quickly trying to get a bit of nutrition for the rest of the day. Big Mama’s is a treat! When we have half days or exams days, they always treat us like family. The food and service is always spot on. No complaints here!!!
Great Eats!!. I don’t what to say about the negative comments on here…some people just have to complain I guess. I have eaten here for years and me & my family and our friends all love it!! Food is always spot on. It comes out fast and with plenty of southern hospitality. Nice people and great place 🙂
Love this Plase. It sure sounds like these people are out to make Big Mama’s look bad, Jeff Well, Susan, Dee, and at the bottom of the SHET pile is, Susan Cavicchia Fuller!Their comments are not at all TRUTHFUL, these people to me are JUST PLAIN OLD LAIRS.Big Mama’s is a very good restaurant to eat at. Try getting in there during LUNCH, it is PACKED full of food loving customers. Except for the above IDIOTS.They have very good food and a price to go with it. Do not cheat yourself out of a very good meal by not going, give them a try and You will love it.
Southern Cooking in Panama City. Everything on my plate was first-rate. The cook actually seasoned the grits during cooking, unusual in this little pocket of the South and something that makes all the difference in the world, flavor wise. The green beans had little pieces of porky paradise floating in the bowl. The fish itself was seasoned well, perfectly fried and needed no additional sauce to give it flavor. You may detect a theme in this review. It’s called seasoning. Many, many places around this town seem hesitant to use seasoning during the cooking process and for that reason, many, many places around this town serve bland food. Not here. This place makes food as I would make at home. The ladies that waited on my table had nice smiles and wonderful, soft Southern drawls; another aspect of Big Mama’s that I appreciate. If you have health issues that keep you from eating hearty traditional Southern food, or if you crave extreme blandness, you have plenty of other choices in town. However, if your heart or waistline can handle it, Big Mama’s on the Bayou delivers tradition and flavor in a big way. Sadly, I’m glad they aren’t open for dinner or on weekends; otherwise I’d weigh 400 lbs! Kudos Ya’ll!
I agree horrible food! nice vegs but the main dishes are awful
Yngagn. Great Southern food served hot and plenty of it, friendly wait staff and great view of the bay. We try to go there at least once a week to sample different dishes.Did I mention that the desserts are great also ?
