We have been going to the shrimp boat now for over a decade now. I have always been pleased with the food and service until tonight. I understand there has been a change in ownership which has affected the quality. The salad which previously consisted of mixed greens was low quality iceberg lettuce. I ordered the St. Andrews shrimp which was much smaller shrimp than previously served. My husband ordered a bacon cheese burger and they didn’t even put bacon strips on the burger but cheap bacon bits out of a package and it was over cooked. Service was fine except the meal took way too long to arrive. Probably will not be back which I hate because we have gone there about three times a year for the past decade, but I am not willing to pay those prices for substandard food!
After reading the reviews for the Shrimpboat I felt it necessary to give it the positive review it deserves. My family and I went tonight based off of the recommendation of a family friend and were not disappointed. The restaurants atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff is excellent. Our waitress made sure our drinks were never empty and we didn’t have to ask twice for anything. The food was delicious from the rolls to the salad with homemade dressing to the main course. (I highly recommend the seafood platter) Everything was very well made and had good flavor. We will be returning to the Shrimpboat.
Appallingly bad dinner. The food is low quality, generic prep, over-salted. Some dishes use canned shrimp. And this restaurant is on the Bay, with access to fresh, local seafood.OVERPRICED. TOURIST TRAP. Do not recommend.Service: waitress was pleasant and did an OK job. Not her fault the food sucks.
Once again The Shrimp Boat has proven why it is a staple in Panama City, FL. I loved it as a child and I love it now that I am in my 40s. The dining room takes you back to historic St. Andrews, something we are proud of in this area. The food is outstanding and the service is friendly, efficient and fun. It is obvious the employees love where they work. As a Bay County native, I highly recommend this restaurant to locals and tourists. It is TOTALLY worth the drive across the bridge. If you are a tourist you need to experience what Panama City is all about and The Shrimp Boat is the place to do it. Loren and his staff will ensure you will want to come back.
We we’re have a good meal then I got the fish it was raw and smelled fishy I told my server I did not want it she removed it from bill but I had to ask also did not ask if I would like anything more
Dear Mr. Loren Smith (owner),After speaking to you about a mistake your staff made I see why your business is not doing well. I will not come back to your restaurant and I will educate my friends and colleagues to do the same.Readers,The food is not worth the money. After a recent dining experience at the Shrimp Boat I was compelled to write this review. My dinner for three started well, the service was good and the food was ok. After I paid the $150 bill, I took a drink of my wife’s water. I found a plastic dipping container lid at the bottom of the glass. A lid I’m guessing, from the last table it had seen. I brought this to the waiter’s attention. He politely apologized and brought the manager. She was also respectful and apologized. She asked me what she could do to make it right. I told her I wanted fair compensation. She told me she would see what she could do. At this point my bill was paid and we were ready to leave. Ten minutes later I went to see what was going on and I spoke to the owner. He implied I put the lid in the glass and he was not negotiating compensation.Mr. Smith, you were rude and condescending. As a business owner I am surprised how you treated your customers regarding a mistake made by your staff. You lost more than one meal.-Offended Customer
Good food! I always love eating sweet potatoe fries!!! Hostess and management were very friendly and welcoming. However the waiter that waited on us was a bit grouchy a first but then he warmed up. Overall a good experience but the food seemed a lil overpriced.
