No longer psyched out…. I used to enjoy going to Taco Casa quite a bit. I have always enjoyed the consistency of the food because every bite takes me back to my childhood when I would sit in the walk-in caf at the PC Mall. But, the consistency has been lacking. First and foremost, I need to mention that one idea needs to be thrown out the window! That would be adding ice to a vat of tea. It’s awful. I’ve been in food service for a very long time, and I have never heard of his. They say it’s because they need to cool their tea. Well, doesn’t the ice we get out of the ice machine do that? I hope it will, because watered down tea (ice does melt and dilute whatever it’s in) does not taste good. I sure hope they will come to understand how non-tea-like their tea is. The sweet tea tastes like sugar water once the ice has melted. And to top that off, the water quality is bad. You can taste that it’s unconditioned tap water. It’s so gross.Secondly, and I’m skipping a few things due to the necessity to bring up what most recently occurred at Taco Casa. I attempted to dine there on November 30th. A new girl was working. She was hanging out in the doorway that separates their food assembly/serving area from their prep area in the back. It was clear that she was eating. When she came forward to speak to me, I could see the food in her mouth. I told her I wasn’t ready. I was, but I said that so I could buy some time to reconsider whether I wanted to eat there after what I was seeing. Then, she put gloves on without washing her hands. Meanwhile, she was still chewing her food over the surface where the customers orders are prepared. At that time I decided to be polite and just tell her I would eat next door at the Gyro (their other restaurant). I left and went to Five Guys. I’ll have to go ahead and add this since it still bothers me enough not to order it anymore. My daughter and I ordered the veggie burrito and the burrito grande one day. She wanted the veggie. The veggie is about 50 cents cheaper than the grande. However, the grande came out half the size of hers, and what’s extra disappointing is that I paid an extra 35 cents to add tomatoes to mine. I stopped ordering the burrito grande after that. Also, the tables were dirty and the trash cans were overflowing.

Disappointing. This is just around the corner for me, so I was hoping it would be an option for a homemade tasting burrito. It’s cheap enough ($3.40 for a veggie burrito) but it just wasn’t what I expected. Rice, avocado, and sour cream would have been a great addition. Canned black olives, canned jalapenos, and raw pieces of white onion? Not so much. I won’t be going back anytime soon.

It’s just okay….. The food is fair, but for the price you pay, you don’t really get much food. You might as well just go to Taco Bell…the quality is about the same and Taco Bell is cheaper.
