Capital Tacos is no secret in the Tampa Bay Area. They are famous for their multitude of magnificent taco and burrito recipes and for good reason. They are among my top three taco spots in the South and probably the number one taco joint for me currently. I’ve never had a bland or boring meal here. Every dish they serve is juicy, tender and full of flavor. The sauces that they drizzle on top of each dish are out of this world good. Especially their bbq sauces. I would recommend everything but more specifically it seems chicken and sausage are their standout offerings. Be sure to check out their special board when you go in as it’s usually an item worth trying.
A hidden gem. If a friend wouldn’t have told us about this place these tacos would be missing from our lives AND WE WOULD NEVER KNOW IT. Their food is delicious with unique taco combinations. The fried ice cream is HUGE. The establishment is small but it’s definitely a plus, because I don’t expect them to go out of business due to high overhead costs, especially with as much business as they get. They have bottled beer and craft sodas, too. Support local business – try Capital Taco.
The wife and I dropped in. It’s an unimpressive strip mall location with a handful of tables. But that’s not why we came. The food is very good, bumping Taco Bus down a notch and taking its spot as my favorite Mexican hole in the wall joint. We loved the tortillas, they appeared to be hand made, not machine formed and had the freshness of being made in house. I had a shrimp burrito and loved every bite.
You want these tacos!Awesome little gem in a plaza off state road 41. The place is tiny and no frills inside but there’s a reason there is often a line out the door and that is THE DELICIOUS FRESH EATS. Each item can be ordered as a taco, a burrito or nachos. You order at the counter, after grabbing a cold local craft beer out of the fridge. They then give u a little license plate and call your state when the food is ready. The small kitchen is open and you can see them make your delicious mexican eats. Food prep is fast! Staff is very friendly and are constantly out in the small dining area or outside tables cleaning and asking if everything is ok. Another reviewer called it a dive, but I feel thats not the right word. Its no frills for sure, rough cut tables and chairs and minimal decor but it’s very clean and run by happy employees. While we were there, there was a constant line to the door. Seating fills up, but with this type of food and being so delicious people were finishing quickly and moving on. You can also get to go orders.I ordered two tacos (they are on soft tortillas) The Billy Yank (fajita beef) and the Double Mesa. (Fajita chicken) both were delicious. But be warned, the spicy slaw on The Billy Yank IS NO JOKE. Hubbie got something but ordered it as nachos. We also got chips n salsa and queso. The chips are house made and the queso is served with a dollop of guacamole and is so addictive I ate the entire cup. Sorry hubbie. I will definitely be back. I am now on a quest to try everything on the menu.
This place beats any chain burrito place, you know who they are. They are tucked away like the hidden treasure they are! Plan on brining all my family here with me! It was our first time here, they took the time to explain the menu, how to order and even some of the most popular ones to order. Super customer service.
Who’d have ever thought there’d be such an interesting taco joint in such a nondescript place. There isn’t even a sign out front!!But the place is always jammin! No need to go into a detailed review – the tacos and burritos here are f@#%@# amazing and the service (and salsa) is blazing. Now to set some expectations: it’s a hole in the wall, but the flavor is worth it!Do you have any friends who like to tell you how they saw (insert band name) back before they were famous? OK – this is the foodie equivalent. Come eat here now before they become world famous and start producing mediocre music. I mean, food.Oh and if you’re gluten free (like our kid) – they’ll certainly accommodate you. Although he doesn’t talk yet – our son clearly thinks the chicken quesadilla on corn tortillas rock his taste buds! One last thing (directed to those customers who should know better): it is rude to take a table PRIOR to ordering your food. Were you raised in a barn?
By far the best taco I have had in the Tampa area. I’m not even the slightly bit ashamed to admit I couldn’t stop eating there tacos I had 3 the first go. Absolutely amazing
