I came to visit Scruby’s for lunch and I’m not sure if my server was swamped with tables or if she was just having a bad day but the service I received was nothing short of terrible. I also work in the service industry so I know and understand if you just can’t bring out 100% that day, BUT not only did I see her chatting up the tables behind and in front of me, I also hear her offering small talk and recommendations and what could only be labeled as good service. So why was it that my table was the only one getting walk-by glances and generally being ignored for most of the meal? I sat there for 10 minutes with nothing on my table and watching her go back and forth from the tables in front and behind me before she came for my order. It wasn’t until later that I realized she wasn’t struggling, I just wasn’t getting the same service she was giving to the other tables.Now, I’ve been to Scruby’s twice before this recent visit and each time the staff was a lot more welcoming and very helpful both times, so I came to expect that same treatment. I asked for recommendations and she struggled to describe the one she was trying to give me. It ended up sounding unappetizing. She then proceeded walk away before I could finish my order. Cue more waiting and watching her walk to every table except mine. It wasn’t for my lack of trying either; I tried to call her over so I could possible order more food or try to gauge whether I could make small talk too (maybe I gave off a wrong first impression), but no, I only received short responses each time.My food came in a timely manner, albeit out of order. The food was hot and plenty of sauces are available at the table. The food isn’t anything to write to home about, but it’s satisfying for the price you pay. If you need anything else, the servers are *usually* happy to help you. Was I satisfied, though? Did I need anything else? A refill? A to-go container? Dessert? If you asked my server, you wouldn’t know because SHE NEVER CAME BACK TO ASK. I got fed up and asked for the check… which was coincidentally already out and behind me. She didn’t even deign to look at me before she went back to chatting up the table in front of me (a newer table but they already finished ordering). I had to call her over to get a to-go container only to have her haphazardly plop them on the table before leaving again. Never have I felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. It was like she was annoyed I was taking up one of her tables and wanted me to leave as quickly as possible. My only regret is that I didn’t think to have a word with management before I left but I’m never coming back.
