Wonderful New Restaurant. We went for dinner and music on a Sat night. The food was amazing! Starting with a cheese platter is a great idea. The added homemade jam was an interesting twist. Our salads were delicious as were the phyllo triangles and the mushrooms stuffed with grapes. The dcor is fun and lively. The music was a little loud though.
The food and atmosphere here was good and the wine was fantastic. The service was very slow to start but picked up once the kitchen was sending out our food. We had a cheese plate, tomato soup, onion soup, the lush life salad, the take 5 salad, the Porgy and Bess tenderloin, Just Ducky streusel, truffle and wine pairing, and the Kahlua cake. With 4 people this was the perfect amount of food. The tenderloin, cheese plate, and desserts were amazing. The soups were just ok and were in bowls that prevented eating all of it. The salads had homemade dressing that was tasty; however, the amount of salad for the price point wasn’t worth ordering. When we ordered the streusel we were told there was no duck and in turn the chef used Cornish hen. It was impossible to taste the pears and the streusel topping was incredibly dry. All in all it was an overpriced average experience with a few high points related to the food. Note: the art on the walls for sale was interesting and reasonably priced.
It’s like stepping into the city. I had the pleasure of visiting Picasso’s this last weekend. We stumbled upon it while walking down Palafox. We had ever intention of having dinner at Global, but stopping into Picasso’s for a drink turned into an entire night of drinks, food, and music. First off, they offer a lot of different wines by the glass, and if you don’t know what you want, ask the bartender. We let her pick for us, and she was spot on. After food stalking a couple at the bar, we decided we were going to get a table and stay. We started with stuffed mushrooms. They had some herb cheese and grapes inside and were just delicious! I had the Pork which was rolled up with spinach and a blackberry wine sauce. If you would have given it to me in a glass, I probably would have drank it. My husband had the duck dish, which he said was delicious….I don’t know because I was so involved with my meal, by the time I looked up, he had finished it. Clarence Bell was playing that night, and he sure was a hoot. The ambiance is dark but comfortable. It really was like stepping into some sort of secret city night spot. Oh yes, and the piece de resistance, they have wine and truffle flights! Our server told us they change them all the time, so I am looking forward to trying them next time we come in. There was one that was espresso and cinnamon and had little gold notes on it….it was SO good. Ok, I’m done. If your looking for something new and exciting with great service, this place is a gem.
Dinner and Drinks. I went with a group of about 8 girls on Wednesday night. The music was supposed to start on 7 but did not start till about 7:20. Overall the food was good. The only complaint I have is I ordered soup and was told they had no bread but soup comes with homemade crackers. I got the tomato soup which was really good by they way. Unfortunately I got one homemade cracker. When I ask for a few more I was told that I had to pay for it to the tune of $4.00!!! Really!!! One of my friends ordered a salad and said heavy on the dressing. When she got her bill she was charged a $1.00 extra for the dressing!! Being new I thought the manager might want to know some of the suggestions I had so went over to talk to him. He just looked at me and said Ok and walked off!! Not great way for a new Restaurant to treat new guest!! Especially since their were 9 including me that bought drinks and dinner…,,,,
