I’ll go back here when in this area again. I still think the ‘Al Fresco’ thing is a bit weird there, but I guess it works. We ate oysters with 2 other friends and really enjoyed them. However I ordered a margarita and had to send it back twice – it first looked and tasted like OJ and tequila – not a margarita. But again, the oysters were great.
I really like going here. Lowest price on raw oysters in town. Their shuckin grits are awesome, so is the grouper entree and the crab cakes. Good burgers too!
Shux is one of my favorite places for lunch. The food is always fresh and delicious. I especially like the jalapeno coleslaw, it taste great on an oyster po boy with a little tabasco! Keep up the good work guys!
Went here last night with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Seating is outside and casual…we were kind of dressed up but fit right in – anything will go here. We started with the hot crab and shrimp dip, which was amazing. He had the crab cake and I had the blackened grouper…both were very good. We also had baked oysters, which were as good as baked oysters can get. I did notice a lot of people were ordering the raw ones so I’m sure those are great too. Staff was friendly, food came out really quick. We were in and out in about an hour but didn’t feel rushed at all. Very happy we came and will definitely be back next trip.
Our new top spot for oysters in PCOLA. My wife and I finally tried this place out recently and we were not disappointed! They had a cool ambiance with the outdoor bar top seating next to Al Fresco. We were excited to finally have a local oyster place offering fantastic chargrilled oysters similar to Drago’s in NOLA. The raw and baked oysters were also some of the best we’ve had in a long time in each of those categories, as well! The service was prompt and friendly. The owner came out and chatted with us for quite a while, which was an exceptional touch. He seems like a great guy. He filled us in on the background of the restaurant and how he acquired his sources for the succulent and huge Louisiana oysters they feature. He had noticed that my wife was trying the different standard hot sauces they had out, and he asked for our input on some tasty new ones they were thinking about offering, which was fun. Then he brought out some samples of the fried garlic grit balls with a delightfully flavorful burre blanc with andouille sausage sauce for us to try, definitely recommended! Overall, we had a great experience all the way around, and the personal touch from the owner really put it over the top! It has definitely become the new ace of the oyster rotation for us!
