Enjoyed dinner at Union Public House. The atmosphere was great and cocktails to start off the night were delicious. We started with the charcuterie which was absolutely amazing. The cheeses were so good and the entire thing was just flawless. I ordered the UPH Dip sandwich and my daughter had the burger. Both were really good but we were so full from the charcuterie that we brought home the majority of our entree. Couldnt leave without trying the Apple pie donuts and they didnt disappoint. Best part of the entire experience was the server. She was excellent at her job, very knowledgeable about the food and couldnt have been nicer. Will definitely be back!
I ate here with 2 friends while visiting friends. I was very pleased with everything! I thought the service was great! The fish I had was grilled well, and my friends food looked fantastic! I ordered the ‘tomato gravy’. I wouldn’t call what they served tomato gravy!! – but it was good! I would recommend this restaurant!
I have been to the UPH twice. Our first experience was wonderful. It was on a Wednesday night and they were packed. We lucked out by getting the last table and were seated immediately, otherwise I think the wait was 30-40 minutes.I read about the Scotch egg and Grouper/Shrimp corn dog, we ordered one of each. Both were delicious! I highly recommend these appetizers.I ordered the Miso Soy Hanger Steak. The temperature was perfect and the dish tasted good. My only issue with it is that the sunny side up fried egg mixed with the miso sauce and pureed broccoli turned into a gray sauce on the plate that looked hideous. It tasted great, looked gross. My partner order the BBQ ribs. He said that they were good, just a bit too much smoke, his fingers smelled like smoke for awhile after eating them. Our second visit was not as good. We went on a Monday night and they were out of four main dishes, including everyone one that I wanted to order, the lobster and chicken pot pie, the tuna the pork. I opted for the duck confit. It was incredibly salty! I mentioned this to the waitress and she came back and told me that the kitchen said because they reuse the duck fat and smoke the meat prior to putting it in the duck fat, the salt builds up over time and that several customers have pointed out that the duck was salty. She was very nice about giving this information but it seemed as a matter of fact and that the kitchen had no plans to change the way they cooked this dish…so, unless you enjoy really salty food, stay away from the duck confit. My partner ordered the $15 hamburger, he said it was good, but not worth the price. You can get pretty awesome burgers cheaper at other places in town. I will definitely give UPH a third try, and hopefully finally be able to try the lobster and chicken pot pie. The cocktails are delish and inventive. The vibe is hip and energetic.
Was heading home after work when we hit Bayfront and saw that the traffic was not moving at all on 3 mile bridge, so hooked a U-turn and headed back toward downtown. We had heard about UPH and were excited to have seen it was open by an article in the News Journal, so we decided to have a little something to eat and a cool drink or two as we waited for the accident to be cleared from the bridge.I ordered the scotch egg first and have been dying to try one for a couple of years, and it did not let me down. The yolk was perfectly soft boiled and the coating of crushed cracklings was amazing, and the avocado mayo complemented it well. I then ordered the duck hearts and yes I am an adventure eater, but these were really really good. I am not sure what I was expecting but they way exceeded what I thought I was going to get. They were soft and like filet mignon in density, not at all rubbery and chewy like I thought they might have been, and covered with a delightful gravy. I would order them again in an instant. We decided to sit at the bar and in doing so we got to talk to one of the bartenders, and had a great time. He was very knowledgeable and was willing to discuss how he made the cocktails and his technique in doing so.My wife and I had a great time and had some very good foods. I can not wait to go back and eat their Main plates. We have been waiting so long for Pensacola to start growing up and to have a real food scene, and with the addition of UPH, we are now well on our way. I would give them a try, and not tomorrow, but today!
