I heard it’s either hit or miss….definitely a hit. We enjoyed fresh whole Maine lobsters with the jumbo stone crab appetizer. Lobsters were prepared for easy eating and the stone crabs were cracked just right. We chose to eat the stone crabs hot. We also enjoyed salads and shrimp cocktails. We got our fill of fresh crustaceans. Desserts were fantastic. We shared a hot chocolate smore cake and peanut butter pie. Definitely worththe calories! Waitstaff was super and despite the rain we enjoyed a wonderful water view.

The worst stone crabs I ever had….. you need to change your name…. The food is so so..THE CHAIRS WERE RIPPED WITH HOLES…. AND the stone crabs are really bad! We live in Tierra Verde and have eaten here SEVERAL times in the last year BECAUSE IT IS CONVENIENT. …. I lived in Miami for 36 years…and I LOVE STONE CRABS!…in Miami all the restaurants we frequented served amazing stone crabs… constantly delicious and fresh. (You know when they are fresh when they are not sticking to the shell.. firm.and not mushy. So yesterday at Billys I asked the waiter if the stone crabs were fresh and explained that I know the difference that I was from Miami. He laughed and said we sell as many stone crabs as Joes in Miami…. That in it self should have given me the answer not to trust what he says…. Joes stone Crab in the top #10 top-grossing restaurant in the USA. He also asked it I wanted them cold or hot…stone crabs are NOT suppose to be served hot…. Warm stone crabs have an iodine aftertaste…so no one ever serves them hot. I asked if they knew how to crack them and he said… well yea! Like Dah…. WE GOT A NEW CRACKER. AT JOES… THEY USE A mallet AND GENTLY CRACK THE HARD SHELL CRABS. So THE WAITER serves the stone crabs the first thing I see it the they seem really wet. Then I got to eat it… the shell is not cracked in the right places.. (Inexperience people working in the kitchen..its so easy to do it right) … The waiter takes them back TO CRACK THEM AGAIN…I GET THE BACK and now they look all mashed up… SHELLS ALL OVER THE PLACE… DISGUSTING LOOKING…they are filled with water and are mushy AND STICKING TO THE SHELL (Which means that they’re not fresh !!!!!!!! What a rip off! Billys Stone Crabs should change the name of the place and stop serving lousy stone crab that have been PREVIOUS frozen and defrosted several times! I WALKED BY SEVERAL TABLES NOT ONE TABLE HAD ORDERED STONE CRABS…. THE ONLY THING I LIKE IS THE navy bean soup and the house salad… it is good…. other then that they can keep all the seafood. Tierra Verde needs a good seafood restaurant! BY THE WAY THE MARKET PRICE WAS PRETTY MUST THE SAME A JOES IS MIAMI! JOEL ACTUALLY HAD A DEAL WITH SALAD, 2 SIDES AND DESERT… AND 3-4 SELECT STONE CRABS.. JOEL WAS LIKE HEAVEN! Really wish I could stay the same for Billys!
Restaurant is very nice, food is not so good and overpriced.
Best View. Food was good nice staff
We had a great time. At first we had trouble with the reservation system because it really does not exist. I planned to bring a party of 20, but was told to call the morning of the planned visit!? After a lot of cajoling on the phone, I was put in touch with Sue, who finally relented and reserved a row of tables/booths for us. One day on advance. They advertise private parties, but only have one room for that (Captains Room) which had been booked for months? So we were skeptical, but once there, the hostess was unaware we were coming. Thankfully, someone did know and we were seated.Everything got better. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient, brought drinks promptly and the dinner orders were taken. We all ordered from the menu which was tilted to seafood, but that is what we expected. The non-seafood options are limited. The food was excellent. I had blackened grouper, done just right. Fresh from the boat that morning. All members of the party had good or great comments on their meals. For a party this size and only two waitstaff, I was astounded at their hustle and abilities. The prices are very reasonable. We were happy to give a 20% tip.
