Silas Dent Steakhouse Experience. Unfortunately we had our worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. It wasnt the food which was great or even the service which was also excellent. The terrible experience was from one of the two owners of the restaurant. We have been dining at this restaurant for the last 20 months. It is close to our home and we have been eating there every month. During one of our visits there, the manager gave us a discount card to use since we are a regular local customer. Obviously he wanted to encourage us to dine there more often. It worked as we came almost weekly. This past week we took three visitors to a late lunch. After finishing our lunch, one of the owners came to our table and began berating us for about two minutes because we were using the discount card. After realizing that it was an internal management confusion she told us not to use the card again. She never apologized for her rude and obnoxious behavior. Clearly, no customer deserves to be treated that way. We understand from talking to people who know her that she exhibits that behavior every now and then. We will not return to Silas Dent again. This saddens us because we have experienced many good meals there and have gotten to know most of the staff and manager. I guess maybe we just dined there once too often. We suggest you consider whether you want to become her next victim when considering this restaurant.
Wonderful. This restaurant has been a St.Pete Beach fixture for over 35 years. It has a fun, kitschy atmosphere and despite all the old time Florida brick-a-brac it is spic-n-span clean!! The food is amazing, and the service is always attentive, upbeat, and professional. It is a favorite! They have 4 banquet spaces on site too. Great for destination wedding receptions and all kinds of private parties!!
Sub-standard Service. My employer treated a group of us to dinner on Saturday, February 1, 2014. I had not read the reviews of this restaurant beforehand, as the restaurant was chosen a few hours before our reservation at 6:30 p.m. In terms of the food which our group ordered, I believe everyone was satisfied with the quality of the meal. What can really detract from a dining experience however, is the quality of the service. Our server was friendly and accommodating but, seemed to lack thorough knowledge of the menu and drinks offered by his establishment. Also, our group was also comprised of five smokers and one non-smoker (me). Prior to leaving the restaurant, the group decided to partake in an after-dinner smoke in their rear patio area. When we came back to the table, our take-home boxes and re-corked bottle of the wine were nowhere to be found. Granted, management readily admitted to their error, and blamed it on an over-enthusiastic busboy but, nonetheless a mistake was made. The items on the table however, were eventually found and accounted for.
Brutal food. Please stay away from this place. It’s an old school Florida restaurant that has not moved with the times. Food was pretty bad. Lots of microwave dishes. The many beach bars across the street have better food and better prices.
Run away fast. Large party of 13, server was too unorganized and lacked confidence. Food was inedible for many of the guests. We found many items to have been microwaved as the plate and outside of the item was hot while the inside was cold. Several chicken dishes were too tough to chew one was still pink. The very overpriced boiled seafood bucket was horrible, the flavor was bland and filled with crawfish and when the first one I bit into was sour I was done, a total waste of $28.00. The Cesar salad was far toooooo fishy and never in my life did I have wontons in it as opposed to croutons. Not one of us left there saying anything good, and with so many items something should have been. I would have rather eaten a filet o fish at McDonald’s at least there the fish is hot. They need to call Kitchen Nightmares to save that place.
The food was okay. The staff was confused. Our waitress told us they were out of the specials the waitress at the table right behind us said that they still have plenty. At a table in the middle of the restaurant, everyone was so drunk and loud, it was difficult to enjoy our meal. Their waiter still continued to bring alcohol to the table.
