Busy sit down seafood joint just up the road from Ft DeSoto. Cramped seating. (Try for a table on outside balcony). Her purse was repeatedly knocked off chair. Wife and I were at a 2 seat high table top. Very loud! Open kitchen/bar layout. Service was slow & inattentive. Food came not as ordered. She loved her salad and her raw oysters. I was disappointed in my ribeye. Altercation involving a drunk driver attempting to hit & run topped the night off-he failed as well. We won’t be back.

Spend your money somewhere else!. Third and last visit to Island Grille tonight. Food was decent but management is poor. There are too many food options in this area and I’ll vote with my dollars at one of the many other options. This place got the last dollar they will ever see from me. My wife and I went tonight to use a Groupon that expires in a week. When it came time to pay the bill we were told we could not use it for what we ordered. Server got the manager and that’s where things went south. The manager, Dave, needs some lessons in customer service. His demeanor and rapport is callous at best and borders on outride rudeness. I’m a reasonable person and was seeing red by the time he explained why we couldn’t use the Groupon in such a way that basically said you’re an idiot and I can show you why. Then he tried to come back and have us read the fine print from Groupon. Really! This place obviously is not interested in repeat customers. They won’t have to worry about that from me! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!
We have lived in Tierra Verde for three years have tried The Island Grill multiple times. Tonight was the last time. Earlier today, the Island Grill posted a $5.99 martini and $9.99 skirt steak special. We arrived ready to enjoy their wings, Dallas style, a few martinis and dinner. The few grouper plates that I saw going out looked delish. But when I asked our server, Shawn, which martinis were being offered for $5.99, he said none. When I showed him the Island Grill facebook post from this morning. He said he had been there for a long time and they had never offered a $5.99 martini. Then somehow the manager decided it was his position to step in and situation went downhill from there. Great location, food is always hit or miss (except for their dallas style wings, always spectacular), service very rarely worth mentioning.
Wonderful grouper.. We’ve visited the Island Grille twice so far during our 2 week vacation. The grouper sandwich and baskets are delicious, generous portions. You should try the smoked fish spread, our favorite so far.
Maybe An Off Night ?. I was so looking forward to a nice dinner with friends. Not the case. Came with a party of 4. Greeted in a very disorganized way. Taken to a table in a crowded corner where they were preparing a flambe desert for the next table, therefore two people in our party couldn’t get by the flambe server to be seated. So we opted to sit outside. Not very busy. We were seated, given napkins and silverware. No menus nor mention of what we wanted to drink. That didn’t happen until 20 minutes later. We ordered appetizers to share. When served, they came with only 3 plates. Waited another 20 minutes to get the 4th plate. In the meantime our server changed to someone else. Finally dinner came. Very bland. My wife’s shrimp scampi had absolutely not seasoning. Not even a hint of garlic. When we finally got the attention of another server, we were told our server had just gone home. So we ended up with a 3rd server. Mind you, we got to this restaurant at 7:00 p.m. I don’t understand why two servers went home. Granted the place wasn’t packed, just extremely disorganized. Needle to say we all left pretty disappointed. But at least the company was good
