A personal favorite of mine, this place makes me miss living in St. Pete. The red sauce might be the best I’ve had in a restaurant, and the chicken parmesan is out of this world. I’m still trying to figure out what they put in the red sauce to make it so uniquely fantastic.
I don’t always eat Italian out (can’t beat homemade), but when I do, I would go back to Verducci’s. I’m very picky about my Italian food and will say this was excellent. We had chicken parm, lasagna, and cannoli. All very good. Prices were very reasonable for the portions and the quality of food. My only complaint is the food came out too fast (entrees while we were eating our salads). I know that sounds odd but we Italians don’t like to be rushed in our meals.
Arrived at Verducci’s on a Thursday evening. Even though, it was chilly out we sat outside because the seating indoors seemed very cramped. Outdoor they had heaters and we were seated immediately. The server was friendly and took our drink orders right after we were seated. The house wine wasn’t the best and the bread basket was stale. I ordered the Bucatino alla Carbonara and my friend ordered Giovanni’s Lasagna. My pasta was homemade but the sauce was flavorless and heavy with oil. The lasagna was good but not great. The server forgot to bring us drink refills we requested and my coffee at the end of the meal. Overall for the price the place was a disappointment. Sorry Verducci, I was looking for a neighborhood place for good Italian and you just don’t fit the bill.
We went for early bird special (many classics for $12). There was spaghetti and meatballs, chicken piccata, and polpetonne (Italian meatloaf) for entrees on our table. The salad that came was fine, a creamy balsamic vinaigrette (not big on that) with mixed greens and a few vegetables. As for the spaghetti and meatballs it was pretty good! 2 huge meatballs on top of a mound of pasta, the sauce was a slight orangish color? It is probably due to cream or cheese. It was a tasty sauce– not too salty, not too sweet. However, it wasn’t as robust as my personal taste is into, but for $12 I would come again! The polpetonne was ok. A little hard the pieces that weren’t hard were quite nice though. Lots of flavor from the provolone, but too dry. Then the chicken piccata was lovely a good amount of capers, nice lemon flavor and the chicken tasted good and fresh. Our server, Brandy, was an absolute delight! She started out a little shy and as she became more comfortable she was very sweet and helpful! I hope to come here again and order off the regular menu, looks delicious!
Dinner date with my guy. Perfect quite outdoor atmosphere with beautiful fire lamps. Service was great. Food was amazing! Mussels in a white wine garlic sauce are a must! Also he did not leave a bite on the recommended pasta dish! Great place!
Parking issue. The food and the service were good. However, if it rains while you are dining, or if it rained before you arrived, your shoes get covered with wet sand and dirt which tracks into the restaurant or gets your car carpets filthy. Please pave the parking lot. We will be back when that job is complete.
This was my first and LAST experience here! Food was mediocre, service same, but food… Well, it was served cold, and I do believe I was served declined plate from another table!!!!
