Tacos Tradicionales!. I’m not a lover of Mexican food, but I love this place! Their chips and salsa are delicous, and I have to remind myself that I’m here for the tacos and not the chips and salsa (That’s a lie, I go there for both!). I order the Traditional chicken tacos, but I ask for the chicken to be fajita style and for flour tortillas. The tacos are topped with cilantro and onion, and I asked for a side of sour cream, which I used to top my tacos along with a little of their red sauce! It is symphony on a platter! My husband and I no longer live in Lakeland, but when we go to visit our parents this is the place we go for dinner. Try the tacos the way I eat them and you’ll be hooked!
I took my wife here for lunch today (first time here) an was shocked at how GREAT the food was. We just moved to FL from OH and all you can get Mexican Food Wise is an Ameri-Mex type of food which isn’t very good. But this is actually Mexican food! The staff speak fluent Spanish, Hispanic folks eat here, I was very pleased with my visit here and WILL be coming back for more.
The Memorial location is so much better than this one. Drive the extra 15 min and you won’t be disappointed.
Fast and filling. Good as fuuuuuu
The chips and salsa are good. The red is fresh but no heat. The green is wonderful. It has a slow steady heat, a deep smokey flavor, and just good. The ceviche reminds me of home. Cold, fresh, and NOT just popcorn shrimp in cocktail sauce. It has both fish and shrimp, fresh herbs, tomatoes. Add the salsa picante and heaven. Camarones Jalisco with the butter and garlic sauce. Great. The shrimp pick up the color and a hint of the flavor. Be sure to include the sauted onions and peppers on the fork, and it all blends for an excellent bite. The rice was a little dry, but mix in the sauce from the shrimp and it takes up the taste and adds a new texture. The tortilla soup is rich, hardy, and has crispy bacon on top. How can it not be great? The tortillas fall apart, the soup keeps their flavor, and they add to the thickness of the soup. It is very rich, and with a salad could fill you up by itself. Go. Enjoy.
Great Mexican food! My husband and I went here last week, and we both thought the quality of food was excellent! I ordered the tamale and enchilada dinner, and he had a chicken chimichanga. The chicken was seasoned well and cooked perfectly, and tasted like it had been roasted. The tamale had a very unique sweet flavor and an incredibly delicious sauce. We highly recommend it and we will be back!
Very disappointed. After hearing that Tapatio’s was so wonderful, I was dying to check it out. Boy was I disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. It was no better than the cheapest Mexican food. The atmosphere was as though an interieror decorator thought they knew what a Mexican restaurant should look like rather than anything authentic. It was a cold atmosphere. If you want good Mexican food, go to Dona Julia’s up the road.
