Service. Yep use to be a great place to go with friends by airboat to eat lunch. But the management won’t keep enough staff to handle traffic on Sunday’s. Only 2 waitress last Sunday. Was told there was a 40 min wait just to get a seat. Oh yea 90% of the tables were empty. This is getting to be common event here. It’s a shame cause they have great food. Just no service. Waitress stated that she has asked for more help. But management I guess doesn’t need the business
Mom’s 70th. We are long time owners a Hatchineha, and anxiously awaited the reopening of The Port. We went a while back to stay at the old house (my grandparents’) and celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. We are so very happy the faciity is reopened, and hope it can help that lovely place return to some of its former glory. We had an amazing meal, several relaxed courses on the huge screened in dock where the gas pumps used to be. It was very slow at the time, but the food was fresh, even the oysters were impeccable. Being in the restaurant business, actually working at one time on the prospect of reopening the port with the county, and seeing what these people have managed to do, I’m amazed. Yes, it will cost a little more. Yes, it takes a while to get there. Hopefully the community that was there thirty five or forty years ago can be rebuilt around the port, as it did so long ago. But gas for large boats is absolutely a deal breaker. The houseboat and cabin cruiser market is the only way. Look at Camp Mack’s arrangement. It has been sad to see the Solid Waste Department staff from Winter Haven take over what is so glaringly a megaresort on the international scale. Come on Port Hatchineha, Polk County, bring back some glory to this completely ingored treasure. We’ll be there for the Boat Parade!
New items at port. My husband & I had a late lunch at The Port on 10/27. The food was excellent. We noticed some changes from the previous time we were there. The salad was bigger with added items and there was a new dessert menu. We had Joey as our server and the service was excellent. We always enjoy going there but the changes will keep us coming back.
Rather overpriced and medicore.
Management is horrible at the port. I I went in one day last week with my wife I ordered the ribeye and my wife got the combo my steak was. Poked wrong two times not just once twice spoke to the manger and she did nothing to help the situation she brought my steak back the third time And it wAs still wrong I told her don’t sorry I do t have to wait for another as we were going to the Airport to go back home and it seemed like it was a bother for her to come talk to us and she didn’t even offer me a discount I didn’t even touch the steak nor the sides I was ready to get out of there I will never go back and I used to love this place I don’t know what when she walked up it reaked like marijuana and too much perfume. What kind of management is that? And you can overhear the servers conversations over the wall we were sitting by and we were appLed by the language we were hearing in such a place we loved on our first visit when we come back down to fl we will never eat there again. I suggest you get a new management team
Unpleasant experience. We had reservations for the porch. When we got there they said it would be an hour wait. When we were seated 15 minutes later they took us to a table inside, although the porch was totally empty. Service was very slow, after 45 minutes I noticed people on the porch were eating, some were done and we had not even gotten our dinners yet, even though we were seated before everyone on that porch. Had not even seen the waitress again until after we finally got our meals. Five or ten minutes after talking with a manager we finally did get served. But then of course we had to wait to be given silverware with which to eat.Food was okay to good. For the five of us Mahi mahi was overcooked and dry, sweet potato was the size of a golf ball and stuffed crab shell seemed only to be stuffed with breading. Salmon, tilapia and burger were good.
Love The Port!. I live in Ohio and own a condo at Grenelefe, where I visit several times a year. The Port is my new favorite restaurant! We love the scenery, the service and above all, the food! We have taken friends, relatives and neighbors to The Port and all have enjoyed wonderful dinners and lunches! Today is Valentine’s day and I am sitting in Ohio watching it snow while dreaming of having a fabulous dinner with my sweetie at The Port! Keep up the good work!
