So so service. Prices that few restaurants can command.. Food was solid. No disappointments. Service was mediocre at best. Not attentive. Had to get waitstaff attention multiple times. Entrees in the $40s, $50s and higher. Higher than almost allhigh-end New York City prices but high-end diner decor and service in a strip mall. But, if you can afford it, you can get a table and eat instead of waiting 2 hours at Houstons.
So, I used to come to Cafe Maxx about once a month back in the day. We dropped some coin and it was fabulous back then in 1996/ 1997 worth every penny. It’s been years since I’ve been. I bragged & bragged but now, wow what a disappointment. First red flag should’ve been the bathroom. was a mess & the floors were dirty. The waiter was ok but not real attentive for a $160 dinner for two! He actually forgot when I asked for butter & I couldn’t get his attention for over 12 minutes. Even tho he walked past our table 3x. The food was good but not fabulous. Presentation back in the day was like art. Now ah not so much. This restaurant seems like its resting on its laurels and its not in its hey day anymoreFood ok. Ambience eh. Not so great. Music, just incongruent with a high end restaurant as this. Service eh just ok. Just a real disappointment as it was THE s*** back in the day. What a shame. Mks me sad
AMAZING!!!!!!. Cafe Maxx has long since been my favorite restaurant and after another amazing visit last night it just reaffirms that sentiment. The entire meal is an experience that you savor. The creations Ollie continuously comes up with are astounding, the personal service Darrel gives to every guest makes you feel like you are visiting friends and the exceptional staff’s close attention to detail and vast knowledge of the wine list and menu help cultivate an amazing dining experience. Last night I tried for the first time the ostrich steak with dark cherry glaze, grilled brussel sprouts and watercress salad and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Thank you Darrel & Oliver for another fabulous visit, I can’t wait to come back soon!
