A Notch Above Pollo Tropical. For dinner last night, I ventured over to La Granja to pick up a chicken dinner as I have seen/tasted the food to be much better than Pollo Tropical. I am an avid Pollo Tropical believer, but when I saw the portions and size of the meals you receive here for the same value my jaw dropped! It is not the in the most desirable part of town, but the service was very pleasant and efficient. For $6.00 and some change, I received a heaping portion that was super hot and fresh of a 1/4 chicken, yellow rice, and black beans. The chicken was a huge chunk, SUPER tender, juicy and burning hot. The skin was perfectly golden crisp too and had a nice, different, more mellow flavor than Pollo Tropical, but I do believe Pollo has more pungent and flavorful seasonings than La Granja. The black beans were good but could have used more flavor, and the yellow rice was nice for a change instead of the standard, boring white rice you always have to eat.Overall, for the value I paid, one meal here is literally enough food for about 2 people. You can really stretch your dollar here, and the food is super fresh and delicious.
