A Dimond in the rough. Wow! If you want to return to Sicily without paying for the airline ticket, this is the place. Mediterraneo opened 4 short months ago and I decided to try it for the first time 3 months ago. The food was unbelievable and brought back many memories of grandma squashing the tomatoes and picking the fresh basil from the garden. So, I thought, well this is the first time and they are new, so they are using the fresh ingredients now, then they will soon change to canned food. Well to my pleasant surprised, I’ve returned there 6 times now and each time it gets better. They keep adding new traditional Sicilian dishes and tonight I tried Pasta Con Sarde. This Sicilian traditional dish is more than 100 years old. The fresh sardines are abundant in the Mediterrano Sea and Sicilians have used them in many different dishes. The fresh sauce, coupled with the tasty sun-dried tomatoes emitted an aroma that could be easily differentiated from the dining room. I finally stopped cleaning the dish because I ran out of the home made bread that they served. Joe, the owner quickly offered more, but I wanted to leave room for a fresh Ricotta Cannoly and a cup of Lavazza Espresso. Carmelo (Joe’s father) came out as usual to make sure that his cooking was acceptable. And I congratulate him to no end. I hope you go there soon. When you go, the only challenge will be finding the place. It is a small Tuscan looking building named The Point. You need to park immediately before the building thru a small driveway. I think the local laws are preventing them from putting some larger signage. However, I’m sure that if any of the town people go to eat there, they will quickly approve of any required permits. Thank you, Joe, Carmelo, Michele e Caterina. See you soon.
