Go Somewhere Else – Lousy Food Served Here. First the good….. Great views of the gulf. This is the ONLY good thing about this restaurant. Now the bad……. If you want good food, go somewhere else. Food was mediocre at best. Prime rib and salmon were salty. Grouper was truly tasteless. One person sent back the salmon, I was very tempted to send back the Captains Platter. The platter consisted of a piece of tasteless grouper, a big bed of mashed potatoes which was tasty, 2 small shrimp, and 2 small tasteless scallops. My wife had the stuffed grouper. She said it was OK, but nothing great. Another person said the prime rib was salty. He took it home, rinsed the salt off and fed it to his 2 dogs. For the prices they charge, very expensive, but lousy food. You are really paying for the great views.Come here have a drink and some appetizers, but go somewhere else for lunch or dinner. BTW…. I am a seasoned well traveled person. I also know the difference between great food, good food, and poor food. I am also a graduate from the world famous Culinary Institute of America. Please note the service, ambiance, and views are very good. **** But Nate as the owner of the restaurant and as Captain of the ship…. you should take your chef and throw him overboard.Visited May 2015
Highs and lows. Service was pretty good. Salad bar was nice, especially the freshly made Caesar salad and the seafood pasta salad. My stuffed grouper was o.k., but was not hot and yet seemed a bit overdone. The accompanying mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus were quite good. The sauce over the grouper had a good flavor. As I said — highs and lows.
Doreen. We made a reservation 3 days before. When we arrived we were told they didNot have a reservation or a decent table for us. We let that go because the bartenders were friendly. When we got to the worst table in the place the food was cold. Although I will never go there again I do want to stress out waitress did the best she could
Service slow and not attentive. Had to ask for EVERYThing … food served was not warm nor tasty of four differing meals. Pineapple was not sweet. Chicken salad bland. Fish over cooked and cold. So disappointed and so sorry we wasted time there.
Wonderful meal and view!. Went for 1 PM lunch Friday after x-mas (wed) – we were seated right away, great table with view, fabulous Bloody Mary, wonderful nice large size calamari appetizer was enough for a meal (asked for the special sauce on the side), blackened salmon salad was terrific, shrimp poorboy very good. 4 of us were very satisfied. Price for two meals including drinks $44.00
Super good restaurant. With a view to kill for, food that’s excellent, and some of the best service I’ve had here in SW Florida, what more can I say….. come and treat yourself and your family/guests!
Hugely Disappointing. We spent our 37th anniversary at the Captain’s Table two years ago and found it superb. We went again a few days ago for our 39th and found it quite different. The $29.00 buffet had been neglected and the blackened grouper I had was cold and tasteless. Very disappointing and we won’t be back again.
