Not so good…. Servers are nice. BBQ sauce is great. Family owned establishment set back in the woods. Food is a little expensive. My husband and I were eating here quite a lot and I would order the half chicken for $13.99. They would bring me maybe a quarter chicken with no white meat. The last few times I complained to the server and was brought more chicken (a breast) after hearing the same excuses. The last and final time they gave me a wing and a leg, then brought me a dried out breast . The prime rib sandwich is all fat and so is the beef. Prices are too high for the food they serve. I would recommend Sony’s in Palatka if you want good BBQ in the area.
Love It!. We really enjoy going there,we have always loved their food,the meat is always tender and yummy and their sides are very good as well.The owner is very friendly and has worked very hard to make this restaurant a wonderful place to eat.I looove the macaroni salad and pulled pork the best.The service was great everytime I’ve been there.I would definitely recommend going there if you want really good barbeque and a cozy atmosphere.
Average as the day is long. I’m originally from Interlachen so I like to see places do well. I’ve actually had their BBQ pork catered at an even and it seemed fine. Anyway, the Backwoods Smokehouse may have an Interlachen address, but it is not in Interlachen proper. It is on CR 310 between Palatka, Interlachen, and Orange Springs. This evening we made a call in order. Three BBQ dinners, two kids meals, 2 or 3 desserts and a sweet tea. $70. The guy in the back was pulling meat from the microwave (not ours as it was Turkey). The tea was good!. The Banana pudding was average, but nothig special nor worth the price. The bbq beans have too much brown sugar. The meat (pork) was very very greasy. The sauces seem to be similar to the beans as the sweet sauce is overloaded with brown sugar. The sweetheat sauce is the same as the sweet with a little spice added. The slaw was fine, again just average. The place is in the middle of nowhere. It is better than a sharp stick in the eye I guess. The interior is cool and represents the area nicely. The do not have to go menus, or at least did not on this day. Bottom line, if you are at Hogwaller or Rodman and starving it is just ok. The BBQ is nothing to write home about and simply not worth the price. You are better off waiting until you hit Palatka and going by Sonny’s or Woody’s.
This place is over priced for sub par food. The language used by the owner and staff is vulgar. There were children present. Didn’t stop them at all.
Backwoods BBQ is true country. If you like the feeling of an old country store out in the sticks come and sit down for a good meal. The food is north central Florida perfect served with a smile and a little local color for good measure. The sandwiches are great. Try any side dishes to complete a meal.
Yum yum yum.. My husband and I stopped in as we followed the signs off of SR20. Glad we did. The meat was well cooked and fell off the bones. The bread pudding was delicious. We enjoyed looking around while we waited for our food which didn’t take long at all. We loved talking with the owner as if we’ve known her forever. Thanks for a wonderful dinner. 😉
HORRIBLE! Wife and I had beef plate. It was thin slice pot roast, Very rare in the center. No smoked flavor. Very disappointed. Tried to eat one slice was too rare, no flavor, and cold. Almost $50 for one of three people to eat. Never asked how we like our food. Avoid this place if you want smoked beef BBQ. We will never go back and will tell all friends and family never to eat there.
