Surprising Menu. I am a barista at an independent coffee shop, so I’m generally familiar with espresso drinks, but this place had menu items I hadn’t heard of before. Their lattes have 2 shots in a 12 oz, 3 shots in a 16 oz, and 4 shots in a 20 oz (Starbucks has 1 in 12 and 2 in 16 and 20). The items are all a little more expensive than Starbucks, but the quality is much higher as well. They offer not only soy but also almond as milk alternatives. The environment is very visually pleasant – they have a lot of artwork and several shelves of books. They play a good variety of music at a volume that isn’t annoying. They also sell various alcoholic beverages. The ONLY negative thing I can say is that when I entered (on a few different occasions) I noticed a terrible smell. I stopped smelling it after 5 or so seconds each time, but before then, it was seriously unpleasant.
I try coffee shops all over the place. While I’ve found many of the independents consistently make hot drinks as good or better than Starbucks they fall way behind Starbucks Frappucino in the cold department. This is the first coffee shop I’ve found that beat Starbucks in everything I’ve tried from hot to cold. At present I am working my way through the menu. Tomorrow I will be on my 4th drink. This coffee shop has true barristas that know how to get the crema from expresso. The best coffee shop I’ve ever been to. The flavor & quality is mesmerizing.
