Hidden jewel still rocks!. My husband and I always loved this mom & pop -everything is fresh and homemade- authentic Japanese noodle restaurant, but the lack of ventilation kept us away. Well, we returned after about a year’s hiatus to find that they installed ceiling fans, which really help with the smell. The waitress was hard-working and friendly. The food took a while to come out, but was worth the wait. It was fantastic. Started out with calamari cooked on a wood plank, I believe. The flavor and texture was incredible! We each had our own soup. My husband ordered his udon noodle soup, but noticed in came in a smaller pot and did not have the hard-boiled egg that he loves. However, it was still 5 stars. Oh, and there was plenty of soup despite the portion reduction. My hot and sour ramen noodle soup was just as awesome as I remembered. FRESH veggies and SPICY!!!! If you have a cold -eat this soup! My daughter ordered miso soup and it was delectable. We just love this place and will be back a lot more often now that there is decent ventilation. Oh, and it’s affordable, too!
Wow! Amazing! Great service, food, and authentic flavors!
For the longest time, I’ve not only searched for a authentic Japanese Ramen House but a great Japanese restaurant with a really good atmosphere; I not found it but actually found a portal to Japan through here. If you’ve ever been to Japan, or dream of it, then you should come here. The food is fresh, & has the best salmon skin rolls, & shumai I have ever tasted; & this is coming from a very picky person of salmon-skin & shumai. The price is also the best of any restaurant I’ve been to. In addition, the people are the greatest, & kindest people. Put it this way; in my utopia, this’ll be there. Origato-gozaimas Cha-Cha; & Thank You for transporting me to Tokyo for tonight 🙂
No Yakitori. Really wanted to try this place based upon positive reviews. Went in. Sat down. Wanted to start with the yakatori. Sorry the waitress says, no yakatori today. It says yakatori in bold letters on the front window. Not a good start. Maybe I will try it again later, but I will be sure to call first.
We went today and it really was not good. Very overpriced for the portion size. Poor job frying the calamari appetizer. It fell apart. Dirty walls….just overall not anything special and certainly not worth the money.
Real Japanese Food. This place serves most decent Japanese food in South FL. A Japanese family runs this place so you can expect a friendly service you see in a real Japanese restaurant. Price is reasonable, menu selection and quality of the food is outstanding. The ramen noodle was pretty good but not as good as ramen noodle at Santouka CA or NJ. Try unusual items such as Onigiri or Tako-yaki. They are scrumptious. It cant go wrong if the food is prepared by the people who know the food best. I will try Sushi next time.
Wasted a crazy amount of time and money here tonight. We had the ramen and teriyaki for dinner, and, dumplings and spring rolls for starters. It took almost an hour for takeouts and the next time I want ramen, I’ll spend $0.50 at Publix and have a better meal!!
