We had out-of-town guests that wanted to eat at a local pub with the feel of Florida, so we ended up in one of our favorite places, BarFly. It is just a great place to relax and enjoy a beer and fresh Florida seafood. (They now have a full bar and a great bartender.) I have read the reviews and I guess most people don’t understand when you want fresh seafood you have to take what has been caught so you might not find the ceviche you wanted today or the grouper that is so good! But I have always had a good meal and a concerned wait staff here. They have a small kitchen, and with everything cooked when ordered it can take time is they are really swamped. This past weekend we had a great waiter and one of the best fish tacos I’ve had in the bay area. We seem to stop by often and only have had one questionable meal but when we mentioned it to the owner Jeff who is almost always working he made it right. I feel good about supporting our local establishments that keep the Florida spirit alive.

Simplistic and wonderful. Best simplistic lobster roll in tampa not over dressed with fillers just a lot of lobster, love it. Calm chowder is amazing

Fresh and delicious every time with a great friendly laid back vibe. Favorites are: peel and eat shrimp, seafood nachos, and lobster bites!

2nd and last trip in. No ceviche again.Served mushy steamed shrimp for $10 and left half uneaten, paid and left. Safety Harbor seems to be cursed for good eats except one place we will visit again. A real pity too as quaint as the area is in an old Florida kind of way.27 Jul, 2014My vote will likely change to like after another visit but a bit underwhelmed for our first visit.Out of conch ceviche which is all we really wanted this trip in. Like everywhere else. A dozen oysters too pricey for those spoiled by north Florida prices. My ale although good tasted of IPA so think their draft lines need a look and cleaning. We opted for a cup of lobster bisque and decent but no discernible lobster taste, more like fish chowder. No seasonings offered but wife put some salt and pepper in. Love the atmosphere here and did get the island feel in the two room space. Might come back for Taco Tuesday and give them another shot. Beer and wine only. Couple of tables out on the sidewalk. CD digital jukebox and game on the tube. We will give them their chance.27 Jul, 2014St. John’s Tropical Mango Ale. Think the lines were a bit dirty.27 Jul, 2014Lobster Bisque. More like a fish chowder. No discernible lobster flavor.
