This food was very delicious. I got the gumbo, jambalaya, and benet. All very flavorful and New Orleans authentic. The service was good too. Very professional and polite. Will definitely become a regular here now that I’m a patient at Mayo Clinic, which is right around the corner from this place

Changed hands. It’s not the same anymore. Old menu gone, and half of what is left on the menu is not available at any given time. Staff is still good, but my go-to place is gone!

I reviewed this place 5 stars a year ago as I was a regular but after today, I felt the need to change my review to 1 star and most I am from new orleans born and raised and loved the fact that I could enjoy authentic lousiana cuisine in jacksonville. When I went in there today I instantly knew something was wrong. The place was a disaster. Decor was torn down and very unprofessionally tried to be redone. There is a popcorn stand in the middle of the restaurant which symbolized nothing new Orleans. Some new Orleans original items are gone off the menu such as the muffuletta, oyster poboy, red beans and rice, and other items. Speaking of poboys. Any one from lousiana would agree that the main ingredient that goes into a poboy is authentic french poboy bread. I was told today that their authentic leidenheimer poboy bread that was shipped in from new Orleans has been replaced with hogie rolls from a local bakery. There is no more abita beer nor is their nola brewing company beer. TO SUM IT UP. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC NEW ORLEANS FOOD, THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE TO BE STILL USING THE NAME GUMBO YA YAS OR TO BE CLAIMING THEY SERVE CAJUN, CREOLE, OR NEW ORLEANS CUISINE. LSU ALUMNI, NATIVE LOUISIANAIANS, STAY AWAY

It’s decent food. Nothing to complain about. Hits the spot just right. I would recommend coming here at least once to form your own opinion – Ansel Ponce Diama

I love Gumbo Ya-Ya’s! Been coming here and catering from them since they opened and everything is just like they do it in Louisiana. Their Muffaletta is huge and authentic, my wife swears by their shrimp Po-Boy and the Gumbo is tasty (and I’m very particular about Gumbo). You can tell Everything else is done with care and from scratch. The crawfish are fresh when in season. I keep a bottle of their bottled original hot sauce in my fridge at home because it has the perfect blend of flavor and heat. Portion sizes are excellent. I also love that they take pride in their heritage – as all true cajuns do.

I moved here from New Orleans in 2014. Lived in New Orleans for 20 years. Traveled the entire state and ate poboys everywhere including Bayou Country. Regularly ate at Parkway Bakery. I get the shrimp poboy and it is spot on. The owners TRUCK in bread from Gambinos and get their shrimp from Louisiana. That’s dedication. Shrimp is plump and perfectly fried. I dare you to find a better shrimp poboy in Jacksonville. You won’t. I promise. You can’t. My wife(from New Orleans) gets the gumbo and loves it. We also get our king cakes from here. You know, since they are Gambinos and all.

AmaZING! All the negative reviews have bad taste buds. Great service, people and most of food! Thank you so much for having the best Cajun good in Jacksonville, taste like home 🙂
