First time eating at Mambo’s. For appetizers we had the small empanadas. The beef empanada was full of American flavored taco meat and was not good. The guava and cheese was sweet and interesting to try. The chicken was good but one had bones still in the meat. The black beans, rice, and sweet plantains were great. I had the Lechon and it was decent, but I ended up adding hot sauce for flavor. We also had the mango chicken, but we were not fans. The service was subpar and the atmosphere was good. I would recommend trying another cuban restaurant. We’ll definitely go elsewhere before trying again.
So good and so cheap!!! I got the original bowl which has chicken, rice and black beans most of the time for $5. He empenadas are good and the staff is friendly and quick.
When we first entered, the staff was incredibly nice! They are super quick with refills (which aided in helping me over my hangover). We ordered the Mambo Combo. It comes with Yuca and empanadas. There is a good chance that I’m going to be coming back for that appetizer alone. The Mambo sauce they serve it with pairs super well! The deluxe Cuban is so large you think it was made for a eating competition. For ~$10, you get a Cuban so large you get a bonus meal out of it, because there is no way you’re taking that thing down in one sitting. My wife got the Media Noche (a Cuban sandwich on sweet bread) and she was raving about how perfect it was. To close out the meal, we got their Tres leches cake which is made in house. Oh. My. God. It is good. If you like nothing else on their menu, come for the Tres Leches alone. Its worth it. TL;DR – Everything here is good!
Consistently delicious! We eat here often and have yet to have a bad meal. The food is always quality and fresh. I had the Pollo Asado today and the chicken fell right off the bone. The cheese and guava empanada is mouth watering! A must try place!
Excellent Cuban cafe! Andres was an excellent server and recommended very tasty items. The sangria was delicious. We tried the plantain chips with mojo sauce. It was a lemon butter- very, very good. John had shredded pork. He thought it was excellent- the marinade for the meat was wonderful, I tried sides of black beans, yellow rice and sweet plantains. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing! We will be back for sure!
Great food and service. Fried plantains were spot on. Food portion was average. The price is reasonable. Definitely would return to this restaurant.
Great Food!. Great food, service and ambience! We were traveling back home to NJ after having spent a few days at Disney. While visiting Downtown Disney we had a very unfortunate meal at Bongos. The food at Mambos was 100 times better and less than half the price. It was well worth the few miles off I95 we had to go to get there! Our server Yoletis (not sure of the spelling) was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the food and also made a super authentic DELICIOUS cafe con leche! Will definitely return on our next visit to Jacksonville!
