It was good. Not great. Of course I love the Yucatn shrimp (famous for the New Yorker review and Tomlinson’s recipe). Mom had a grouper sandwich and dad had shrimp and grits. Our server seemed more than a little off. We would ask for a refill on or drinks and he would only refill one of the drinks. Or my mom asked for ketchup With her fries and had to ask repeatedly for some. The food was great. Service was lacking. Love the new building! It definitely cost some money to build but I think it maintained the original doc fords aura.
Great selection of local craft beers and domestic. Fish tacos were excellent and black beans and rice paired perfectly. Used the Oro Colombiano sauce for extra flavor. Portion was excellent size for lunch! Will come back when we return.
Loved this place! Who knows, maybe it’s touristy, I have no clue whether locals go here or not. In any case, we had a great meal… and our waitress was wonderful. Started with a mojito (amazing, perfectly balanced and potent) that was so good I had to have two. We had the Yucatan Shrimp as an appetizer. The sauce is amazingly flavorful with a bit of heat. We decided to shuck all the shrimp at once and put them back in the sauce, as we peeled, to maximize the flavor. As other reviewers have mentioned, we were offered extra bread to sop up the rest of the sauce without asking (must be a wait staff training thing… which I appreciate!). I had the ribeye (perfectly cooked and flavorful) my husband had the recurring chef’s special of scallops with black fettuccine and crab (very nice). We finished by splitting a piece of carrot cake. Favorite meal we’ve had on the island!
One of our favorites on the island. Fish tacos, calamari salad, tuna appetizer are great. Great ambiance. Always busy and you’ll have to wait but moves fast. Carrot cake best I’ve ever had.
Doc Ford’s offers great drinks and great food. We visit every year. Party of 5 seated within 10 minutes. Rum punch and other tropical drinks were served and enjoyed. Calamari and Beach bread were enjoyed and eaten quickly. Huge ala carte salad – enough to share. Dinners: Lobster roll – kind of small but lots of lobster meat. Yucatan Shrimp – Oh. So. Good!! Paella- chocked full of seafood and sausage with a nice kick! Panko crusted grouper was tasty and enjoyed. Service was attentive and fast!
It was raining so we decided to try out doc fords. The atmosphere was great and Brandon provided amazing service. The drinks were really good as we were trying to wait out the storm. Ended up ordering a few sandwiches. The fish sandwich was amazing …. But a little spicy.
Busy place, but well run. The wait was short. Signature cheese bread app was tasty, but I swear I could taste mayo, just like the stuff mom used to make. All the fish is fresh, except a few of the kids dishes. Grouper and fish tacos were very good. Rum drinks all good. Skip the Oatmeal cookie Daquri unless you love fireball and stiff drinks.
