Now they’re made from bagged egg mix and served with Heinz salsa instead of fresh pico de gallo. Needless to say they don’t taste very good. Don’t worry the price is still the same. Not sure why anyone would go back for this. At least the coffee is still good.
New management has made a very positive impact on this long time Sanibel coffee shop. The place has real Sanibel charm. Sparkling clean. Friendly staff that was happy to suggest items to us. . I really like the cafe mocha and the chicken salad croissant. Mango smoothies are refreshing on a hot day.Nice atmosphere. I love sitting outside on the side of the building.
Love the coffee!
Last time here in 2006, the espresso drinks were the best I’ve had in the world – including trips to Italy. Having come back in 2013, I am extremely disappointed. The quality of the espresso is sub-par and the staff doesn’t seem to take the same pride that they used to. It’s not what it used to be. I will say that their sandwiches are quite good.

Lovely coffee. I can’t speak for the food menu, but the coffee really is quite good. Much better than my hotel’s and a great treat. Much better than Starbucks. I typically drink Batdorf and Bronson, for a coffee lovers comparison.We come to Sanibel every year and have made a tradition of getting some yummy coffee, then walking across the street to the beautiful playground they have on the island. Makes for a nice morning ritual.
I’ve loved the Bean for years (my parents live on Sanibel so I’m there often)- and it’s still good- but it’s not as wonderful as it used to be, I must say. Still, the food is great and even though it’s a coffee house (and that’s their specialty anyway), some of the fresh sandwiches, bagels, and snacks are worth it- love the hummus platter (which is huge!), the Santa Fe bagel, and my husband loves the Nutella banana bagel. The coffee’s always been awesome, particularly the drip coffee. We always buy the Sanibel Blend and the Tropical Blend for our machine at home!
