My favorite spot on Sanibel. I recommend the Timbers highly.A tip: when you walk in, stop at the fish counter, and see what’s fresh. The dude cleaning fish will usually be happy to tell you what just came in (caught that day). Order it, and you will be very happy. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with a fried seafood platter or crunchy grouper.
After eating at Sanibel Grill last night, it’s safe to say that I’d rather go back there then go to the Timbers ever again. The oysters Rockefeller were average at best & the grilled grouper & grilled snapper were terrible. It was some of the most bland fish I’ve ever had on Sanibel. The grouper was allegedly prepared with garlic butter, although you’d never know as there appeared to be none on it. The snapper had a citrus buerre blanc on it. Maybe. It was hard to tell as the snapper wasn’t fully cooked. The only solid item in the entire meal was the NE chowder. It is quite delicious. The kicker is that after tip, the entire meal came out to $100. This is a crime. The Applebee’s of Sanibel (otherwise known as Doc Ford’s) prepares fish better than this. Very sad & unfortunate.
I love timbers! Great fresh fish and crunchy grouper to die for! Always one of our favorite seafood stops! I’ve also gotten fresh mahi and tuna and loved every morsel! The service can be a bit slow but we go early so it’s less crowded!
