Ain’t Boston at all.. Pretty much canned chowder. Fried haddock, fried oysters and fried onion ring batters devoid of taste – zero flavor and no salt. Perhaps majority of customers on low sodium diets?
Awesome food. Best cheesesteaks and clam chowder in the business
A Review From 2 Out-Of-Town New Englanders. She from Maine… He from CT…. OK, so we arrived on a Saturday afternoon about noonish…. not crowded at all, but our server was rather unattentive to us. We had to get refills from another server when the place started getting busy. Our original server did not clear out our appetizer plate when we finished it. Speaking of which, we shared a plate of the Rhode Island Clam Cakes. More like fritters or hushpuppies with clam mixed in. A valiant effort, but we’ll pass next time. Not enough clam and light on taste. BTW, when one orders such an item, it might be good to automatically put the tartar sauce or a lemon wedge on the plate. Our lunches were a Cod sandwich and a Haddock sandwich. Both were homeruns. Fresh tasting, big on order size, fresh buns. Onion rings were fresh, not the frozen junk. Overall Bit Of Boston was delicious and we would return. We just hope the server is a bit more attentive to all tables.
I found a GOLDMINE!!!!. I was born and raised in the Chesapeake Bay area and sorely miss some of my favorite seafood dishes from that area and New England. Having lived on Florida’s Suncoast for over 30 years, I have not found any restaurants that serve FRESH softshell crabs — fried or sauteed — nor many that even know what Ipswich Clams with the bellies are. UNTIL TODAY!!!!A Bit of Boston is tucked away off of US 41 in Venice. You have to look hard to find it. Not a lot of glitz, but it is a goldmine when it comes to GOOD seafood, fresh, and cooked properly! Their fried onion rings are to die for!The restaurant is clean. Service is excellent. The menu is diverse. And the prices are incredibly LOW! We’ll be back many times.
AWESOME~wicked good food & folks. I don’t know about those who complained in previous reviews, BUT,I have dined there almost every Friday and quite a few Saturdays.I have NEVER, EVER had any problems….GREAT FOOD ~ Wonderful Service ~ Accommodating Owner. The Haddock, The Cod and the Chowda are as good IF NOT BETTERthan what you get on the Cape…..The Cheese Steak Sandwich is the BEST I have EVER had……GiGi and the staff are some of the BEST People you could EVER meet….Thanks for the 100’s of meals…….. and a few extra pounds….
Soft shell crabs are delicious as is the chowder. Have eaten there a few times. Never disappointed.
Restaurant Experience & Food. I will try too make this short, this was our second trip to A Bit of Boston. 1. First let me say, do not arrive 15 or 20 minutes before their closing time. They will rush you through your meal. 2. Two of our group ordered the Maine Lobster rolls. The Lobster was so salty that it was inedible. The Lobster was plentiful but it was not presented as stated on the menu with mayo etc. It was dry.3. Also two of us ordered the clam chowder. The texture of the clams, what few pieces there were, was like rubber, not that I’ve eaten rubber before. The other cup of chowder was missing the clams, but was full of potatoes. This was not our first trip to A Bit of Boston but it will be our last. Also let me say I am originally from Maine and this restaurant is a far cry from what you expect and receive in New England.
