Real bagels? NO. Tried one bagel to compare with others I have had in Sarasota and in New York. Can’t say it was a bad piece of bread but, in my opinion, not a real bagel like ones in NYC. The best and most authentic bagels in Sarasota, in my opinion, are at LOX AND EGG on south Tamiami trail.
Not the Real Deal. As someone who was born and raised in Brooklyn, I feel I have been fortunate to have some really great bagels. These bagels are not boiled before baking, therefore their texture inside is no different than that of a roll or piece of bread. If you are used to the real thing, don’t bother with this place. If you never had a real bagel, you just might like it.
A new good food choice in the area. I tried one of their bagels today and liked it. It was an Everything Bagel that I got toasted and with a garlic cream cheese. I got it to go but they also have a few tables inside. Service was ok. It is a small local place that recently opened, I got an impression they are still getting used to things, but that did not cause me any concern today. I certainly hope they do well. They had a few other customers while I was there, a good indication they are getting discovered.Offering breakfast items and sandwiches as well as bagels, Brooklyn Bagels and Deli is a welcome addition to the area. They are at the corner of Beneva Rd and Gulf Gate Blvd where the Sunoco gas station, Hungry Howies, and Beneva Flowers are located.
