Blackened Tuna. The best arround! Perfect 🙂
Not that great. It was also not terrible. OK food and an OK visit that seemed a little overpriced. We stopped in tonight for dinner, a beautiful evening when we left for the restaurant and pouring down rain when we arrived. We were able to park close. It has been a wet summer. The inside of the restaurant has that seafood look with netting hanging from the ceiling, fish along the walls, and a small fish market. It was too wet for us to consider sitting outside. We started with soup, the Clam Chowder and the Lobster Bisque. I thought the chowder was pretty good, the bisque pretty bad. The bisque had too much thickener and didnt seem to taste at all like lobster bisque. Our Caesar Salads came in cute little boats. I liked the very flavorful creamy dressing. As I suspected it was bottled dressing, not homemade. Bottled dressing can still be good. For my entre I had Admiral Janes Platter, a combination of shrimp, flounder, and a crab cake. Our entrees also came in a boat. I selected fried, the shrimp were fresh and good and the flounder thin but OK. The crab cake was not very good but improved when I used a sweet sauce they provide. I thought my hush puppies were undercooked. We passed on the Key Lime pie after having first read the other reviews.Service was OK. Aside from a small mistake on our bill that was quickly and very apologetically corrected, I cannot think of anything wrong. I suppose I have gotten to expect having happy somewhat enthusiastic servers, so running into someone who was neither was noticeable.
LOVED IT. Went there last week, and the food and atmosphere was so great that we returned 2 days later. Sat at their outdoor tiki dining area where we could smoke! The shrimp cocktail was SUPERB, so was the fried shrimp. Sides are unique and tasty, and we loved the crab sauce so much (it’s great on everythjng) that we even brought some of that home. Would highly recommend this place. Wish it was not so far from Wisconsin.
Captain Eddie’s in Nokomis, Fl. We love this place! Every time me and my family go to Florida which is about twice a year if were lucky we always come here to eat! The food is awesome and we look forward to coming! We stay at siesta key and we always drive to Nokomis just to eat here! We have been coming here for a few years now and have never gotten anything that wasn’t good! We love to sit in the back outside at the Tiki huts, it makes for a great atmosphere! We are always greeted with much hospitality! We will always come here to eat when in Florida! Love it!
Their vaunted key line pie is soggy, and lacks any lime-flavored zing. Don’t bother. Get a better tasting pie down the road at Publix! If you don’t order your fish fried, expect it to be bland and underdone. Although we’ve been eating at Captain Eddie’s for many years, we’ve since discovered better local seafood restaurants nearby. Try the Casey Key Fishouse on Blackburn Point Rd instead.
Decent overall. Captain Eddie’s is good but not great. Service is polite and mostly attentive, but not stellar. Prices are more reasonable than other places but the food is more simple. This is basically a middle-of-the-road type restaurant. Don’t expect perfection and you won’t be disappointed, but I’ve been here several times and I have no complaints about the food or service.
The entrees are good. Very fresh seafood. But the side dishes need some work. They all lacked flavor.
