Worse Meal Ever!. The worst meal ever!! We should have known when all the other restaurants were crowed and this one was not. Our friends were from out of town and had never had Stone Crab, so with our suggestion they both order it. At over $40 per person you would expect a great dinner. When the food came we were busy eating our food, not noticing the trouble they were having getting the meat out of the shell. I tried to crack the claw and most of the meat stuck to the shell. We called the manager (George) over and he said the waitress should have told us not to order it because it wasn’t good. That they had gotten it from Tallahassee not Venice (as the place mat stated). Well, he gave us a refund for one partial dinner, but not the other one. We were astonished. He would not budge and give us the total amount back, but offered them one piece of pie. Needless to say we will never go back to Capt. Eddies again. On our way out we took a brochure on Stone Crab. Here is a direct quote from the brochure they have at the front of the restaurant, Stone crab claws are sold fully cooked, fresh or frozen. Claws are cooked immediately after harvest to prevent the meat from sticking to the shell. Also, another chef told us that if they are heated too much before serving they will stick to the shell.
