Simply the best italian and service in venice
Heavenly lasagna. We have been there twice now and both times our food and service has been outstanding. The first time I went, I had spaghetti & meatballs. The spaghetti and sauce were good but the meatballs were mediocre. The serving was generous – enough for 2 meals. The second time we went, I had spaghetti with Italian sausage….much better! Both times we went, my fiance had lasagna & he generally does not order the same thing twice unless it is exceptional…which it is. Great blend of cheese, meat & sauce…each bite is heavenly. We had dessert on one visit, Italian rum cake. It was big enough to share and prices are reasonable.
New management, same great food. Loved the food of the old Mama Leone’s, and it’s still terrific. Didn’t notice much change in the look, but the bread ahead of the meal was very tasty and our meals were terrific. We loved the pizza before and were thrilled that it was maybe even better. We had to wait for the check because it got busy, but the waitress was very good.
Please DO NOT try this restaurant. Wehad an awful experience. Over-rated and over-priced. DONT order cheesecake. For 6.00 you will receive a tiny sliver. Snippy waitresses make fun of guests.
1st time there today. Service was excellent. Waitress was genuinely friendly. Pizza was not so good though, crust tasted like cardboard. Resembled frozen pizza. Liked the staff and the atmosphere so much though we will go back and order something different.
First time visit mar 3. Found food to be bland with little taste. House red wine was light and flavorful. Did not care for the female waitress which does not contribute to this post. In no hurry to retirn
Venice culinary landmark. Mama Leone’s serves LOTS of very good, very filling Italian food. The prices have gone up recently, but it’s still worth it. Good Italian decor. Very popular. Good friendly service. Located right on Jacaranda. They have a 2nd location on Hwy. 41 between Sarasota and Venice.
