Mona Lisa Wonderful Dinner Experience. Where to begin on such a wonderful dining experience: the staff (and owner!), the entres, the dessert! Even though we were from out of state, we came back the second night! The staff was friendly and attentive, the food delicious (pasta with italian sausage and seafood pasta were what we tried), and the desserts were tasty and light — the homemade cheesecake was delightful as was the tiramasu. Definite stopping place if you’re in the area!
I visited this restaurant spring break of 2014. I meant to write a review but I forgot. My wife and My 4 children went there for an evening meal. It’s a small family run Italian restaurant. We sat on the covered patio in the evening. It seemed that many regulars were there who interacted with the staff as if they knew each other. The staff was very pleasant. We got a chance to meet the owner who also does the cooking. All of our food was excellent and was made from scratch. I had pasta with pesto sauce. I very much liked my meal and it was one the best pesto pasta dishes that I’ve had so far. I don’t recall now with my wife and children order but they were extremely happy. I do recall that the bread was good and warm. We visit Sarasota every year and I am certain that I will visit the restaurant again the next time we return.

Make reservations. We arrived unannounced on this Saturday evening for dinner. Even being off-season we almost did not get in. They have about a dozen tables inside, some outside that were not being used tonight. Call ahead and make a reservation. Fortunately for us, we got in. The owner was exceptionally nice and our server first class. For my entre I tried the Penne alla Vodka. I liked it, the flavor neither bold nor understated. The serving was a good size. My wife had a linguine and seafood dish and thought it was very good with a respectable amount of seafood. I had a sample and agree with her assessment.We had a comfortable relaxing dinner.
Fantastic!!. Messed up my reservations and they still made room for my husband and I. His birthday was very special and the service was phenomenal with the owner making several trips to the table and even remembering it was my husbands birthday even though I hadn’t said a word since we arrived. (I had mentioned it when I phoned), great prices, amazing food, fantastic service and a table with a view!
Best Restaurant in Sarasota. Mona Lisa is the best restaurant that I have eaten at in Florida since I moved here 6 years ago from NY. The Eggplant Rollatini appetizer is great & can be a meal in itself. The bread is homemade. The garlic bread is not your typical garlic bread and must be tried. The Bolognese sauce is incredible. The Veal Parmigiana is sliced thin & tender, topped with a fresh homemade Marinara sauce. The Cheese Cake is wonderful. The new owners , Marissa & Don, treat you like family & have brought Little Italy, NYC to Sarasota. This place is the real deal. The entire dining experience from the service, food & atmosphere is unbeatable. If you want delicious, authentic Italian food, Mona Lisa is the place to go. Bring your appetite as the portions are generous. You will definately leave with a big satisfied smile.
Wonderful delicious authentic Italian!. Truly delicious. Wonderful food and ambience. The owner and chefs are from Italy and prepare truly delicious, authentic Italian dishes. Their dishes are not overprocessed or over-salted, as the dishes can be in so many restaurants these days. Their lasagna is the best I have had (don’t tell my Italian aunts please) as they prepare the lasagna with bechamel sauce (as opposed to ricotta cheese, as is in so many Italian-American lasagnas). Their bread is baked fresh daily. I have begun to visit Mona Lisa quite often and have tried many dishes.the food is always wonderful, ambience is wonderful, staff very friendly. I am very health conscious so I limit restaurant visits to 1 to 2 times per week. but I have been eating at Mona Lisa quite often recently, and have gained no weight! Which just further validates this is real food, healthy, not over processed or over-salted. Delicious authentic wonderful Italian. Wonderful restaurant! Viva Italia, and Mona Lisa!
