Friendly Family and Fabulous Food!. It’s important to me to support independent local business and I will be delighted to return to Opa Opa time and again and to bring my friends! The atmosphere is welcoming and fun, and service is attentive and helpful. But THE FOOD IS THE BEST THING! In several visits I and my dining partners have enjoyed many menu items and all were delicious with generous portions. My favorite is the lamb chops…..best I’ve ever tasted!

5 Star Experience. I was born and raised in Greece. I have been in the restaurant business since 1966. I owned two restaurants, one in Greece and one in the United States. I have had the honor of serving many celebrities including Telly Savalas, Roger Moore, Claudia Cardinale, David Niven, and George P. Cosmatos,( the director of Rambo), to name a few. While visiting Sarasota with my family, we had the opportunity to eat at Opa! Opa!. From the moment we walked into this establishment, we felt welcomed. For starters, we ordered Octopus, Kalamaria, Hummus, Greek salad, Dolmathakia (stuffed grape leaves) and Retsina. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the grape leaves were excellent. For entrees we had Pastitsio, Moussaka, Lamb Chops, and the Gyro. The were all made with quality ingredients and very flavorful. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable. The portions were adequate. We left feeling very satisfied and will go here again when we return to Sarasota. We highly recommend Opa! Friendly and good. We stopped in tonight for dinner and I liked the place as soon as we walked in. They have a large bright print of a Greek scene on the wall as well as other tasteful prints, and we were met with a friendly greeting. A chalkboard listed a few specials. Our server was friendly and polite, and did an excellent job.I dont know too much about Greek food but I know I really like Saganaki, and I really liked it again tonight. The flaming cheese was a delicious start, as was the warm pita bread. For my main course I had the Dolmathakia, grape leaves filled with ground beef. I liked that too, although I cant really say how it would compare to others. My wife had the Moussaka, an impressive cube of eggplant and beef. She liked it, and it was way too much food for her. After our dinner, including a complimentary dessert, the owner stopped by. The restaurant has only been open about six weeks and we enjoyed chatting about the work and challenges of starting a restaurant, and many other topics. It was a nice evening. They have a measured approach for getting the restaurant off the ground, so you should expect the proper attention to the food and excellent service. I wish them much success.
